    I think this is all great advice. I’ve also found until you get started, a series of relatively small goals to be less intimidating than one big one, even to the point of: Week 1-walk 10 mins. Week 2-walk 20 mins… Until you’re where you want to be. Nothing motivates like success!

    I joined a gym that was on my route from work to home. I knew if I had to go even one block out of my way I would be less likely to go to the gym. I HAD to walk past it every day to get home.

    Wonderful tips! Almost didn’t read as had given up on rejoining the gym. I became a member of my very local municipal gym which has great rates for people over 60.. however I went once and that was with a friend who lives abroad now.
    Having read the article, I am going to look into other gyms (private) as I know what I want.. women’s sessions in a small gym with good gym assistants. Obviously will be decided ultimately by cost but many thanks for the inspiration x
