Boyle, Sagan: Scientific and Spiritual “Understanding” of Life Interdependency Part 3

Listen! It’s beautiful! Don’t You want to hear? Share?…You care…enough to know.Large Group of Happy People standing together. Royalty Free Stock Photo

Do You tolerate people with a different point of view?! (Well, as long as i “remain” right or come off “correct!”-lol…some “may” feel deep down!:)

F~l~e~x~i~b~i~l~i~t~y is a sign of physical health as well as emotional, mental…i’ll throw in spiritual health, too. Our range of muscle motion is indicative of our wellness. When it comes to your compassion, what is your personal range of motion?! Are you flexible? or ridgid? Can you bend and stretch a little or are you too stiff?…stiff in your thinking and actions?!

Can you o-p-e-n-y-o-u-r-m-i-n-d and s   t   r   e   t   c   h further by “trying” to “understand” others and their beliefs? Whether you’re into science or spirituality or not…many among our global-family of beatiful-breathing-fragile-life…are! Just because something doesn’t matter to you or me doesn’t mean it isn’t important to someone somewhere!:) What matters to you? Don’t you appreciate when others take your feelings/thoughts into consideration…like you matter!:)

“As far as scholars have discovered, there has never existed any people, anywhere, at any time, who were not in some sense religious.” ~The New England Britannica

“To study different religions need not imply infidelity to one’s own faith, but rather it may be enlarged by seeing how other people have sought for reality and have been enriched by their search.”~World Religions–From Ancient History to the Present.”

For me, i may not personally (adhere to) “believe” in your particular religion/belief system, but i RESPECT your right of choice. I may not totally agree with your take on reality, but i RESPECT it’s your take and you have the right to reality! We all make choices. We live with the results of those choices. Will i exhibit compassion toward my Fellow-Breathing-Fragile-Life by trying to understand/comprehend you better and “your reality” in which you choose to live…SURE!..i will!:) My personal quest for truth behoves me. My personal quest to live love/compassion/truth behoves me. What behoves You?!

“If I as a geologist were called upon to explain briefly our modern ideas of the origin of the earth and the development of life on it to a simple, pastoral people, such as the tribes to whom the Book of Genesis was addressed, I could hardly do better than follow rather closely much of the language of the first chapter of Genesis.” “This geologist, Wallace Pratt, also noted that the order of events–from the origin of oceans, to the emergence of land, to the appearance of marine life, and then to birds and mammals–is essentially the sequence of the principal divisions of geologic time.” ~Life How Did It Get Here? by evolution or by creation?

“Discrepancies” ‘Do Not Have to Be Contradictions’…

Kenneth S. Kantzer, a theologian, once illustrated how two reports of the same event can seem contradictory and yet both be true. He wrote: “Some time ago the mother of a dear friend of ours was killed. We first learned of her death through a trusted mutual friend who reported that our friend’s mother had been standing on the street corner waiting for a bus, had been hit by another bus passing by, was fatally injured, and died a few minutes later.”

“Soon after, he heard a very different report. He says: “We learned from the grandson of the dead woman that she had been involved in a collision, was thrown from the car in which she was riding, and was killed instantly. The boy was quite certain of his facts.”

“Much later…we probed for a harmonization. We learned that the grandmother had been waiting for a bus, was hit by another bus, and was critically injured. She had been picked up by a passing car and dashed to the hospital, but in the haste, the car in which she was been transported to the hospital collided with another car. She was thrown from the car and died instantly.”

“Yes, two accounts of the same event may both be true even though they seem to disagree with each other. This is sometimes the case with the Bible. Independent witnesses may describe different details about the same event. Instead of being contradictory, however, what they write is complementary, and if we take all accounts into consideration, we get a better understanding of what happened.” ~Does the Bible Contradict Itself.

May be if each of us took the time to get to know our family of breathing-fragile-life a little better, and “understand” the reality in which members of our global-family live…we could harmonize/get along/learn peace! May be, we could/would see that our personal reality/views/perspectives might be complementary and not necessarily completely contradictory?! When it comes to the origins of life, and where life/this planet is headed…would we do well to take different accounts into consideration?! (Of course, we would.)

Before You believe anything do you investigate?!…thoroughly?! How smart is: believe first…ask questions later or not at all? It amazes me how “quick” some are to believe/be scammed..well, it’s on t.v., it’s in writing, everybody’s doing it/the majority believe it/this expert and/or person who looks like they know what they are talking about says it’s right/correct…well, then it must be true! Same with evolution. Throughout our lives, evolution has been bullied upon us. From elementary school on up and throughout adulthood…did you ever have a teacher or professor who encouraged you to question/thoroughly investigate evolution for yourself?! The prevalent attitude is only idiots believe otherwise…something other than evolution. This idiot…namely me…questions evolution..and questions so-called “thinking” people/scientists who don’t objectively ask questions…and simply accept theories…”any” theory as reality/fact! This idiot…namely me…doesn’t play ball with the popular kids, obviously. i’ll play ball, but let’s make it a fair game and include the so-called underdogs as well. Neither do I accept religious doctrine/dogma contrary to scientific fact (i.e. the earth was created in 6 literal days).

Do you appreciate organization? I am in AWE of organization. (I “strive” for organization.) Organization is beauty (to me).

“The more we examine the universe, we find it is not arbitrary at all but obeys certain well-defined laws that operate in different areas. It seems very reasonable to suppose that there may be some unifying principle, so that all laws are part of some bigger law.” ~Physicist Stephen W. Hawking

“We cannot get around it: Superb organization requires a superb organizer. Nothing in our experience indicates that anything organized happens by chance, by accident. Rather, our entire experience in life shows that everything organized must have an organizer. Every machine, computer, building, yes, even pencil and paper, had a maker, an organizer. Logically, the far more complex and awesome organization of the universe must have had an organizer too.”

“When we think of laws, we acknowledge they came from a lawmaking entity. A traffic sign that says “Stop” certainly has behind it some person or group of persons who originated the law. What, then, about the comprehensive laws that govern the material universe? Such brilliantly conceived laws surely bear witness to a supremely intelligent lawmaker.” ~Life How Did it Get Here? by evolution or by creation?

What does Sagan Say?? Where did All the Matter Come From??

“At the beginning of this universe, there were no galaxies, stars or planets, no life or civilizations.”…referring to the change from that state to the present universe as “the most awesome transformation of matter and energy that we have been privileged to glimpse.” ~Cosmos Carl Sagan

Notice this point from the book: Life How Did It Get Here? by evolution or by creation?

…the key to understanding how the universe could have come into existence: It must have involved a transformation of energy and matter. This relationship was verified by Einstein’s famous formula, E=mc2 (energy equals mass times the speed of light squared). One conclusion that derives from this formula is that matter can be produced from energy, just as tremendous energy can be produced from matter. The atomic bomb proved the latter. Thus astrophysicist Josip Kleczek stated: “Most and possibly all elementary particles may be created by materialization of energy.”

Hence, there is scientific evidence that a source of limitless energy would have the raw material to create the substance of the universe. The Bible teaches that this source of energy is a living, intelligent personality. (Isaiah 40:26) “Raise your eyes high up and see. Who has created these things? It is the One who is bringing forth the army of them even by number, all of whom he calls even by name. Due to the abundance of dynamic energy, he also being vigorous in power, not one [of them] is missing.”

Thus from the Biblical standpoint, this source of boundless energy was behind what Genesis 1:1 describes: “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”

Albert Einstein: “He who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead.” The wonders/organization/unity of the Universe deserves our attention and focus….awe!

Of course, the Bible is NOT a science textbook! However, one cannot help to notice the scientific accuracy:

The cycle of rain and evaporation from the ocean, unknown in ancient times, is described at Ecclesiastes 1:7:”All the winter torrents are going forth to the sea, yet the sea itself is not full. To the place where the winter torrents are going forth, there they are returning so as to go forth.”

The earth is spherical and suspended in space, not confirmed by science until the 16th century is stated at Isaiah 40:22: “There is One who is dwelling above the circle of the earth, the dwellers in which are as grasshoppers, the One who is stretching out the heavens just as a fine gauze, who spreads them out like a tent in which to dwell,” and Job 26:27: “He is stretching out the north over the empty place, Hanging the earth upon nothing;”

More than 2,200 years before William Harvey published his findings about the circulation of the blood, Proverbs 4:23 pointed out the role of the heart…”More than all else that is to be guarded, safeguard your heart, for out of it are the sources of life.” ~excerpt Mankind’s Search for God: Modern Disbelief–Should the Search Continue?

THANKS:) for reading my blog! Did you enjoy the David Lanz piece: A Whiter Shade of Pale?…it’s appropriate/symbolic for this post and (to me) on different levels. New age classical…that’s what this post is: revisiting a classic topic and putting a new/different spin on it…sorta.

BE WELLplease, use your mind/thinking faculties to investigate! Investigate your reality. Investigate the breathing-fragile-life in your neck of the woods. Investigate this beautiful universe that you are a part of…Investigate (see/check it out completely for yourself) before you believe anything! Please base your beliefs on “accurate” knowledge…you’ll live longer! Investigate science and spirituality (i.e. evolution vs. creation). An accurate belief system leads to wellness and peace. Deep down (i believe most) want peace, happiness and wellness…

Investigation–a smart choice! Investigation means healthy flexibility!:) Investigation safeguards your heart and your mind! Keep working it–Keep flexing your compassion!

PEACE to all compassionate, flexible investigators!:)
