1313 aka 1.3.13 aka January 3, 2013…
A “Bird’s Opening” for this new post:
1: Poem (discussed with my 3 daughters):
Not in Vain~by Emily Dickinson
If I can stop one heart from breaking,
I shall not live in vain:
If I can ease one life the aching,
Or Cool one pain,
Or help one fainting Robin
unto his nest again,
I shall not live in vain
3: Corny jokes that made my daughters and me chuckle:
What does an educated Owl say?
What is a polygon?
A missing Parrot!:)
What’s the difference between a jeweler and a jailer?
One sells watches and the other watches cells. (cute play on words)

13: Writings by Poet/Wise-King Solomon, (i shared w/my kids):
“Happy is the man that has found wisdom, and the man that gets discernment, for having it as gain is better than having silver as gain and having it as produce than gold itself. It is more precious than corals, and all other delights of yours cannot be made equal to it. Length of days is in its right hand; in its left hand there are riches and glory. Its ways are ways of pleasantness, and all its roadways are peace. It is a tree of life to those taking hold of it, and those keeping fast hold of it are to be called happy.” (Proverb 3:13…14,15, 16, 17)
“A Wise person will listen and take in more instruction, and a man of understanding is the one who acquires skillful direction, to understand a proverb and a puzzling saying, the words of wise persons and their riddles.” (Proverb 1:5,6)
“Do not say to your fellowman: “Go, and come back and tomorrow I shall give,” when there is something with you.” (Proverb 3:28)
“Go to the ant, you lazy one; see its ways and become wise. Although it has no commander, officer or ruler, it prepares its food even in the summer; it has gathered its food supplies even in the harvest.” (Proverb 6:6, 7, 8)

” For there is an eventuality as respects the sons of mankind and an eventuality as respects the beast, and they have the same eventuality. As the one dies, so the other dies; and they all have but one spirit, so that there is no superiority of the man over the beast, for everything is vanity. All are going to one place. They have all come to be from the dust, and they are all returning to the dust.” (Ecclesiastes 3:19, 20)
From Where/Whom did the dust come?! Do you and i have the same eventuality?!
“My bones were not hidden from you when I was made in secret, when I was woven in the lowest parts of the earth.” …“You kept me screened off in the belly of my mother. . . . Your eyes saw even the embryo of me, and in your book all its parts were down in writing, as regards the days when they were formed.”—Ps. 139:13-16 ~written under inspiration by another Poet: David; FYI: Dad to Solomon…poetry must run in the family, eh? i really like the poetic reference (highlighted) to DNA.
Who? i mean “whom” 🙂 says ancient, (biblical) poetry can’t be scientifically sound!
Is everything (most human accomplishments) just vain endeavors?! 2013 the start or stop of many endeavors. The Hebrew word for year is sha.nah’ meaning “repeat, do again”… Greek word for year e.ni.au.tos’ “cycle of time”…what will you repeat or do again this year?? (Gaining greater insight and wisdom are worthwhile endeavors!)…
That’s kinda the problem i have with human philosophy or what i would term “false” philosophy…generally speaking: it’s usually selfish-based! The philosopher’s personal vanity and/or hidden, selfish desires/wants/agendas are the motivation of his/her specific philosophy…which often becomes manifest in the philosopher’s quest for fame and fortune…yeah, taints it for me! Find somebody (teacher/sage/wise-guy -lol:) or a group/organization out there that’s in it NOT for the money or my money— i’ll LISTEN…really!:)
2013 & beyond another goal: learning unselfishness or unlearning vanity and vain pursuits: THANKS for carefully examining your choices for 2013!…THANK YOU for choosing to live unselfishness which ultimately leads to greater happiness/peace for everyone including You & me!:)
Some make all these meaningless promises and resolutions…the lists go on and on, year after year!
1 simple resolve: just let your “yes” mean YES! and your “No” mean NO!…(that’s tough enough to live by)..anything in excess of that is probably vanity!:) Does anyone mean anything if their word means nothing?!
Did you realize? Einstein learned much of his physics on his own through independent study and reading!! i read this fascinating paper: “The Education of Einstein” by Clayton A. Gearhart…“Einstein throughout his life needed to talk through his work with others.”
“There was yet another factor that brought Einstein into closer contact with his students. This was his need to clarify his ideas for himself by expressing them aloud and explaining them to others. Thus he often conversed with students about scientific problems and told them his new ideas. But Einstein did not really care whether the listener actually understood what was being explained or not; all that was necessary was that he should not appear too stupid or uninterested.” ~The Education of Einstein
As BFL: Breathing-Fragile-Life, Caregiver, Partner, Parent, Friend, can we engage in more meaningful, up building conversation or talk…of an elevated nature?! Can we learn to better understand one another?! Can we engage in Positive/Compassionate talk?! Can we truly “listen” to those who need to talk to us?!
Will You listen the next time someone/anyone wants to talk to you?! (Never know–could change your life for the better!:)
Inigo Montoya: I do not mean to pry, but you don’t by any chance happen to have six fingers on your right hand?
Man in Black: Do you always begin conversations this way?
THANKS for reading/listening to my blog!:) i’ll end our conversation this way:
“Life is pain, Highness. Anyone who says differently is selling something.”
Oh and don’t forget to: “Have Fun Stormin’ the Castle!” 🙂
