    Your insight and perspective has given me the freedom to leave a prison of my own making I have been in since age 18 and I am now 61. I have literally thrown out my scale and replaced it with pen and paper as you suggested in another writing….I am now writing every morning and getting nearer to the poor me forgotten within. I am forever grateful for discovering your writing/perspectives. I am on a “revolution”!

    I love this article. After suffering from bulimia and anorexia for over 20 years, this is what I’m working toward now. It’s my hope that we can get this idea of health (true health in my opinion) out there and create more awareness. Our society is driven by diet culture and teaches us to hate our bodies and almost kill ourselves which leads to disordered and full blown eating disorders to get to this unattainable ideal. Thank you so much!!

    I’ve almost cried reading this…
    I’ve been struggling from a binge eating disorder for almost 10 years. And every time when I stopped to look at the scale and allowed myself to eat everything I want, I always started binging even more and gained lots of pounds in a short period of time. And it’s not healthy. I felt super stressful when the doctor checked my weight me 2 years ago and asked: Are you pregnant? Why did you gain 22 pounds?
    And this year, I’ve asked if I can avoid the weight check. And she said “no” and then she noticed again: Oh, you’ve gained 12 more pounds. Is everything OK?
    I was not ok when I became skinny. And I didn’t become ok after I gained weight and became fat 🙁
