Body Image Boosters From The Blogosphere 3.30.14

single flower, creative joy retreat

A positive body image goes beyond liking your looks. It encompasses taking good care of yourself and leading a fulfilling life. In this weekly series, I share some of my favorite posts from some of my favorite bloggers on this topic. Sometimes I also share relevant pieces that I’ve written elsewhere. Hope you find these links inspiring!

Self-care on the difficult days.

This piece from Rachel is absolutely stunning. I’ve written her words into my journal, to be re-read when the body worries arise.

All this is to say: feel the sacred ground you are living in.

Feel that you are sacred in every cell of your body.

Stand in awe of not just what has happened on your ‘land’ but on what you have survived and created.

Stand tall.

Consider reverence as a new template for how you inhabit this flesh of yours.

Like Whitman says, your “flesh shall be a great poem”.

Healthy ways to navigate negative thoughts.

Acceptance is not stagnation. “This does not mean taking it unduly easy on ourselves or living lives without ambition. Instead, it is about working with ourselves instead of against ourselves in order to get from here to there.”

“Instead of perfection, strive for allowing and granting permission to your messy vulnerability, humanity, and bright, sparkly light.”

Finding our way home.

A delicious dish to try.

How Andrea earned her white belt in desire.

The first step toward self-acceptance.

What to do when life feels hard.

A simple practice to awaken joy.

Getting outside.

Create a stop-doing list, because “what you stop doing is just as important as the things you start doing.”

On letting go.

Anna and Rachel are teaching their powerful retreat, “Wise Body, Wise Hungers: Yoga and Coming Home to Our Desires,” again, this year. Learn more here.
