Body Image Booster: Uplifting & Inspiring Quotes

Every Monday features a tip, activity, inspiring quote or some other tidbit that helps boost your body image, whether directly or indirectly — and hopefully kick-starts the week on a positive note!

Got a tip for improving body image? Email me at mtartakovsky at gmail dot com, and I’ll be happy to feature it. I’d love to hear from you!

Last week I stressed the importance of reading inspiring pieces to help us improve our body image, and I shared some of my favorite posts around the blogosphere.

This week I’m sharing some of my favorite quotes. I’m a big fan of bookmarking and writing down quotes; sometimes, just a few words have the power to remind us of what’s important, lift our moods, make us think — really think — and give us gems of wisdom to carry throughout the day.

Most of these quotes don’t relate directly to body image, but they speak to the importance of being yourself, pursuing your passions and enjoying life. Body image is so much more than liking your legs, anyway. (Although that could be a good start. 🙂 )

“There are two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.” ~ Albert Einstein

“Don’t be too timid and squeamish about your actions. All life is an experiment. The more experiments you make the better.” ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

“Nobody can make you feel inferior without your consent.” ~ Eleanor Roosevelt

“If I’m going to sing like someone else, then I don’t need to sing at all.” ~ Bille Holiday

“Never bend your head. Hold it high. Look the world straight in the eye.” ~ Helen  Keller

“The creation of a thousand forests is in one acorn.” ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

“I know for sure that what we dwell on is who we become.” ~ Oprah Winfrey

“Life is full of beauty. Notice it. Notice the bumble bee, the small child, and the smiling faces. Smell the rain, and feel the wind. Live your life to the fullest potential, and fight for your dreams.” ~ Ashley Smith

“Perfectionism is the voice of the oppressor.” ~ Anne Lamott

“If you have a body, you are entitled to the full range of feelings. It comes with the package.” ~ Anne Lamott

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” ~ Mark Twain

What are your favorite quotes or sayings? What inspires you to improve your body image and lead a fulfilling life?
