I’m certainly one who experienced the difficulty of finding vegan-friendly grief support. I got the impression that I was the only vegan contacting these groups, and they didn’t have the bandwidth to make accommodation for just me. If there are other vegan widows and widowers out there, I’d love to know if you’ve had more luck, and/or encourage you to contact the groups I contacted to let them know there is demand! I contacted https://www.soaringspirits.org which organizes three big “Camp Widow” events across North America each year; their response was that the best they could offer was vegetarian options. I also contacted the Meetup group Young Widows/Widowers of the DMV, which organizes lots of activities, mostly potlucks at member homes or restaurant get-togethers. I got lucky with the first potluck host “getting” veganism and making sure others brought vegan dishes — but after that, hosts just didn’t seem to get it, so I dropped out of the group.

I really appreciate how you advocated for yourself, especially during a difficult time. I’m sorry you weren’t met with more responsiveness. You bring up an important avenue of activism.
