The headline subtext mentioning RAGE, I felt it coming at me, triggered by it. Once I summoned my courage to read the article (“listen”), I heard the author saying she went through that RAGE stage, and I don’t believe she, personally, would RAGE at me, even though I am not (yet?) a vegan. So it was the subtext that was the trigger. Maybe the editors pick those, and not the authors. There’s a lot of RAGE flying these days. It’s all justified, from the emitters’ perspective. It always is, even when it isn’t. I’m pushing down the self-talk. “Triggered? You deserve worse!” “You’re too sensitive!” Wait. This is a mental health site. It’s OK to ask them to remember the audience when using article hooks that mention RAGE. And, activists, “In wrath, remember mercy.”
