    Saffron is a wonderful gift of nature. A very useful spice for all kinds of cooking – flavor and color.
    Use it sparingly in vegetable soups, paella, rice dishes and even cake!

    I remember a time years ago when saffron became so expensive that buying the typical small spice jar was no longer affordable. Years later it was proposed that saffron helps with depression and I’ve always wondered whether that had more to do with it’s price and relative scarcity that any actual benefit to depression. If someone can afford to buy saffron perhaps there is less to be depressed about because that individual certainly isn’t poor.

      Pandem Summeric, I can tell you that it is magnitudes more expensive here in Canada than it is along the Mediterranean coast. And I love your observations about depression and affording saffron, though I’m not sure that they would always be consistent, your theory certainly holds water in some ways.
