Today I love mornings on the bay in my kayak with the water gently rippling around us and the sun shining warmly on our arms and heads as we cruise the shoreline and look for fish and neighbors and whatever else there is of interest to see. I love that we spotted a rainbow trout at least fourteen inches long hanging lazily around our shoreline this morning and he was clearly enjoying our early morning coffee time as much as we were, though he had no coffee; I will not be guilty of contributing to the delinquency of a trout. I love how blue our water is here, love that my mother used to tell me that it is the second bluest water in the world, second only to the Mediterranean, and I’ve seen the Mediterranean and it is pretty blue and they are very close. I love that we have a perfect day here at the cottage and I’ll take that. I love that I am feeling withdrawal symptoms from my new kitchen and that’s because it is so close to being done and so very much what we were looking for in a kitchen. I love that missing my kitchen is one of the good parts of being at the cottage. I love that I’ve been planning to rearrange the kitchen at the cottage so it’s more like the one at home, that way I’ll be less confused.
Today I love that it is June and I’m going to cut some lawn, though I will not cut it as short nor as often as I have in the past. I love that we managed to only trim the lawn a couple of times to the longest and shaggiest height our mower would manage, sadly our neighborly next door neighbors took it upon themselves to cut our front lawn a couple of times this spring. I love that neighbors look out for neighbors sometimes. I love that today is the day the cottage lawn gets cut for the first time this year and the grass is almost up to our knees, it’s haying season.
Today I love spicy Thai marinade. I love that we barbecue often and are reasonably competent at it. I love that between us we have a lot of skills that compliment, it’s a good way to live. I love that there is a lot of wildlife around us these days, rabbits and squirrels and birds at home, fish and chipmunks and birds at the cottage, bats in the evening sky, the neighbor’s dog, “Cypress” coming to visit us at the water’s edge, the world is a wonderful place to be a part of the wildlife of.
Today I love drinking my morning coffee in comune with a trout, pretty cool thing, eh?
