Today I love conversations on the water, the kind that take place when we head out in our kayaks and admire the world from a distance great enough that we can have calm reflections on our thoughts and share them with each other. I love how easy it is to see someone else’s point of view during quiet conversations than it is when emotions are high. I love that we do not often have high emotions about things unless they are mutual emotions about progressive things that have happened. I love when something like that happens and we both cheer simultaneously and turn to each other and high five or fist bump. I love that as well as being on the water in our kayaks we got our dock sections out on the water and connected together and anchored down for the season and that went reasonably easy this year. I love that things like this give us pleasure. I love that we plan to do things that give us pleasure and the next thing on the list for next weekend is a fire in the fire pit down by the water and there will likely be marshmallows and maybe hotdogs and definitely conversation and hope and more cheerful planning. I love our weekend life here.
Today I love that we are slowly getting ready to pack and return to our home with the new kitchen and the unfinished living spaces and I’m rested and refreshed and ready to go at trying to move those spaces closer to being finished. I love how working and playing here at the cottage is restful for me. I love the drive home as much as I love the drive here, and there are times when I almost wish our cottage was farther away, but not often and never for long. I love that when ever I get to the cottage from home or home from the cottage I always think the drive was just right.
Today I love bagels and eggs for breakfast, especially with home made bagels from a friend, thanks Anne. I love that we’ve been eating like vagabond royalty, nothing but the best of cottage cuisine, burgers and fried brekkies and barbecued suppers and the like. I love that tomorrow we start back with the porridge breakfasts because tomorrow is Monday and that means regular food. I love that oatmeal is one of the most regular foods going. I love that by the end of the month we will likely be swimming in our bay once the pollen is off of the water and the water temperature gets above 55°F.
Today I Love drinking coffee from my moose-can coffee thermos out on the water in my kayak while having good conversations.
