Today I love well made pasta salad like the one that is in my fridge that was made by my wonderful isolation partner. I love that it is a very refreshing thing to be lunching on after a dusty, dirty morning of cutting and fitting drywall patches after the rewiring and replumbing have been mostly finished up. I love how much I enjoy sniping at my boss and having him snipe back at me with words that appear hurtful but that are intended to make each other laugh. I love that I get to take a break from one job by doing another one. I love that I can eat while writing and write while eating; I suppose I could eat while drywall patching, but it would leave my salad pretty gritty I suspect. I love that I am pretty good at doing several things and passable competent at doing a few others. I love that snarling at my boss is one of the ones I’m pretty good at. I love that I get to do that, we’ve been friends for many years. I love that this afternoon we are building a bulkhead to hide some plumbing and hold a couple of pot lights. I love things keep moving forward. I love my life right now, even if these are very challenging times.
Today I love that we are getting a taste of summer weather as often happens in the spring. I love that I was reminded that seven years ago my boss and I built a privacy fence for friends of mine, and then I subsequently wrote a couple of poems about fencing in my friends. I love that they appreciated the poems and the fence. I love when things get done well and last like they are supposed to. I love seeing things I’ve built still standing. I love building things well. I love knowing when I have done a good job and am ready to move on to the next thing on my list. I love that I’m still going.
Today I love plans for the weekend that may have a big surprise in them. I love that we’re hoping to get to the cottage again. I love that the weather is supposed to return to more seasonal springtime temperatures. I love that there was thunder yesterday, I love distant rumbles and I love sudden explosive cracks of thunder that are right on top of where I am. I love that I was almost struck by lightning once and still love to see it and hear its echoing fury.
Today I love good coffee and delicious salad with my writing lunch.
