Today I Love Visiting With Family

Getting ready to bake bread

Today I love visiting with family even though they are many miles away and we can only touch base by online conference calling. I love that we all “Watched” a movie together last night and paused it at different points to discuss what was going on and our impressions of it. I love that it made my isolation partner happy to “see” her siblings. I love that today is a somewhat sunny Sunday so far and is threatening to maybe be warmer than its prediction advertised. I love that it will likely be a lawn mowing day, though my plan was to not cut the lawn this month at all, it is getting pretty shaggy and I suspect it will be beyond cutting in another couple of days so I have resolved to set the lawnmower up as high as it will go and leave as many flowers in the “pasture” for the pollinators as possible while trying to mitigate the end of the month mowing. I love that I woke up feeling pretty good today, even though I feel I shouldn’t have. I love that I am still keeping busy. I love that I got bicycles out yesterday and maybe we’ll be able to go for a small ride today if we get the opportunity. I love that I am on the radio today at 4PM, Eastern Summer Time and that’s always fun.

Today I love that I am in a t-shirt and haven’t yet put on a sweater or sweatshirt, it’s one of those days that feels warm already, not hot, but comfortable. I love that I don’t love kale, but I can tolerate it if I must. I love that I do love spinach and it is ninety-six percent as good as kale and I’ll eat two hundred percent more of it so that’s a net spinach gain of one hundred and eighty eight percent more good for me and that is a spinach win, ’cause math wins every time. I love when I science the hell out of my arguments and science the health into my diet.

Today I love that we have bananas and that means that if I can keep from eating too many of them there will be banana bread, ’cause I also have a few walnuts here after my unfortunate math miscalculation in my bulk food online order the other day. I love that today looks like another bread making day as well, so stand back, the planetary mixer is coming out and there will be two kinds of flour in the air and lots of smiling as the dough proofs. I love making bread.

Today I love drinking coffee while my mixer does the kneading for me … hey, I’m old, give me a break.

Kelly Babcock

I was born in the city of Toronto in 1959, but moved when I was in my fourth year of life. I was raised and educated in a rural setting, growing up in a manner I like to refer to as free range. I live on the traditional lands of the Chippewas of Nawash in an area where my family history stretches back 6 or 7 generations and my First Nations friend's families go back hundreds of generations. I was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 50 and have been both struggling with the new reality and using my discoveries to make my life better. I am a freelance writer and I write two blogs here at Psych Central, one about living with ADHD and one that is a daily positive affirmation that acts as an example of finding the good in as much of my life as I possibly can.
