Today I Love Sunday Radio

coffee and a radio
Well caffeinated music

Today I love Sunday radio and especially the show called Georgian Bay Roots that can be found right here! I love that my friend Kailey Hawkins is the host of that show today and next week it’s my turn to host again. I love how easy it is to fall in love with a job that isn’t easy to do. I love that we have a new host. Tom Thwaits, though I do miss our old friends Dylan and Lauren on the show. I love that our fearless leader, Jon Farmer, is the original root at Georgian Bay Roots and I love that the show was his baby and grew legs and went from crawling to walking under his care. I love that it has started to run now and we don’t know how far it will go but we’re all enjoying watching it go. I love that some days I listen to that show and, in my heart, it is flying. I love that I get to play the music that means “Folk” to me and all of us hosts get to do that as well. I love that we all have our own ideas of what folk and roots and local means but we all agree that the most important aspect of the show is that it is music. I love that Georgian Bay Roots is the official show of Summerfolk. I love that Summerfolk and the Georgian Bay Folk Society were brave enough to cancel this year’s festival and make sure that all our volunteers, patrons, and performers are as safe as we can make them.

Today I love that yesterday I did some low voltage wiring for the under cabinet mood lighting in our new kitchen and though the lights and trim still have to be installed the test showed that it is going to be an awesome yet subdued spectacle of beauty when this kitchen is done.I love that every day I work on doing something more for the advancement of the renovation and things are slowly getting taken care of here. I love that there is talk in the house of starting up the contractor again since the reopening has been initiated. I love that we are making a list of priorities so that we get the most time sensitive and important things done first. I love how much fun this kitchen has become, even though it is moving so slowly toward completion.

Today I love that we traded home made cinnamon buns for home made bagels and we traded chives for home made German pretzels yesterday. I love that people doing isolation baking are willing to trade and we are all benefiting. I love that I’m contemplating baking pie next, and considering some unusual flavors.

Today I love drinking Sunday morning coffee in a Sunday morning kind of mood while I listen to Sunday radio and write Sunday words.

Kelly Babcock

I was born in the city of Toronto in 1959, but moved when I was in my fourth year of life. I was raised and educated in a rural setting, growing up in a manner I like to refer to as free range. I live on the traditional lands of the Chippewas of Nawash in an area where my family history stretches back 6 or 7 generations and my First Nations friend's families go back hundreds of generations. I was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 50 and have been both struggling with the new reality and using my discoveries to make my life better. I am a freelance writer and I write two blogs here at Psych Central, one about living with ADHD and one that is a daily positive affirmation that acts as an example of finding the good in as much of my life as I possibly can.
