Today I love murky grey days like this one right outside my window. I love that I am pondering the lovely warmth of a homemade sweater that I’m contemplating putting on when I’m done my work here in the blue castle this day. I love that today there will be some dust and some mud and some tape and some fixed walls and that’s all in the kitchen and it’s all going to be smashingly good when it is done. I love how quietly excited I feel whenever I think about the counter tops coming in though we still have no word on when that might happen. I love that we are very successful at making do these days. I love that we have an induction hotplate now and it works admirably and when we’ve replenished our egg supply we’ll be able to have fried eggs again for weekend breakfast and that replenishing might just happen today so that weekend breakfast thing might be tomorrow. I love how little it takes for me to get excited these days, probably just as well that I stick to the little things at my age, eh? Ha ha. I love that I am still just eighteen in my heart. I love that my heart is the most tired and worn out part of me these days, what good is a heart if you don’t use it all up in your life time?
Today I love that I completely forgot to make porridge yesterday and so this morning we ate cold cereal while I laughed at myself and my forgetfulness. I love that today I’ll try to remember again to make porridge along with getting eggs and doing all the other things on my list. I love flannel pajamas and anything plaid. I love that I’m trying to figure out how to make a plaid floor for the front hall and with any luck that will be doable. I love that many things that are important keep going in these weird and unusual times. I love how easy it is for so many people to find the time and energy to care about their neighbors.
Today I love good homemade cookies, they have a taste that is as warm as a homemade sweater. I love that baking seems to have become a world wide pastime, welcome to your kitchens everyone, glad everyone remembered where they were. I love that the world is now googling recipes for sourdough starter, here’s a little hint, if you already have some yeast, try looking for a starter that uses yeast instead of trying to capture wild yeast.
Today I love sipping my coffee and getting myself charged up to do walls and get eggs and put in more floors, this is a full day I’ve got on the go here.
