Today I Love Leftovers

old carpet in the new kitchen
I love humorous temporary floors

Today I love leftovers for lunch especially when the plan was that there would be leftovers and that they would be good and I most especially love that that plan succeeded, YAY! I love that I continue to work here at home like I always have even though I am also experiencing differences in this world and getting the opportunity to test myself and adapt to the new realities of life. I love that we are rearranging the priorities of our renovation and making the place comfortable for ourselves and then moving forward a little at a time on the larger aspects of the full project. I love that yesterday I cut up some of the carpet from the old dining room and laid it out in the kitchen where the new flooring will eventually go. I love that the old area rug from the dining room is now in the old kitchen which has become the new family room though it too is far from finished. I love that the new family room has all the amenities a family room should have, TV, Wii, DVD, WiFi, and a whole lot more capital letters that are absolutely amazing and astounding when it comes to entertaining my wee brain. I love how much we’ve done in the last three or four days to make our home comfortable in the midst of these trying times that occurred in the midst of our renovations, who’d have seen all this coinciding in such a confusing manner, and yet we are thriving here I tell you.

Today I love that we got ready to drive past a friend’s place and blare our horns and wave and just make general nuisances of ourselves in an effort to celebrate his birthday, and doing that was a lot of fun. I love that we had a conversation with that friend and his partner in their driveway and we in our car and another couple in another car parked ahead of us. I love that we are all doing okay, even though we are talking longingly of getting together when this is over and having a good old fashioned evening of food and fun.

Today I love that we are starting to find ways to enjoy ourselves more at home. I love that we stayed up past midnight last night just to watch a movie that would not end. I love that I have decided that I feel good about working from home because I already know how it’s done. I love my life and this current situation has done nothing to change that feeling.

Today I love sitting at my kitchen island, drinking coffee and writing blog posts.

Today I Love Leftovers

Kelly Babcock

I was born in the city of Toronto in 1959, but moved when I was in my fourth year of life. I was raised and educated in a rural setting, growing up in a manner I like to refer to as free range. I live in an area where my family history stretches back 6 or more generations. I was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 50 and have been both struggling with the new reality and using my discoveries to make my life better. I write two blogs here at Psych Central, one about having ADHD and one that is a daily positive affirmation that acts as an example of finding the good in as much of my life as I possibly can.
