Today I love Helping People

blue chairs on the porch
How blue can you make me? Rock The Boat Blue!

Today I love helping people, even if it is just by making them laugh when I can. I love that in my other blog I occasionally get to offer advice to commenters who are often seeking the comfort of understanding. I love that i get to write these two blogs. I love that it is apparently going to be raining for most of today and that I’ve already been party to some funny comments on social media about showers and rain and hygiene. I love a good clean hygiene joke. I love that I’m not in the least sorry about that last statement. I love that the temperature is supposed to warm up even more in the next couple of days and I am looking forward to sitting out front on the wooden chairs we put together last year. I love that we stained them Rock The Boat blue and we’re still happy about that. I love that the cottage is being eyeballed with intent and may end up being that same color because someone here really likes it and the other person here is even more enamored of it. I love that the color in question is not far off of the color that we chose for the kitchen cupboards, and we chose that color without thinking about the other one. I love when one decision just reinforces the rightness of another decision.

Today I love that it is bread making day and a writing day and there is some work to do for the Owen Sound Hub as well, all good stuff. I love keeping busy and there is no end of jobs and tasks in sight here at the Blue Castle so I get my wish for a good long while yet. I love that I’ve added to my to do list by bringing home a pattern template for making wooden chairs and the “to do” with that is that I have to cut the template pieces out in order to use them. I love that this is clearly a make work project because we have six of these chairs already and no one other than the two of us to sit in them but we’re hopeful that times will change and we would love our guests to be comfortable when those changed times come.

Today I love that we will be having fish for supper tonight and that always makes me happy, my parents came here, one from living on salt water shores and one from living on big fresh water shores and fish was a great part of my growing up. I love that there are frozen strawberries for the next batch of porridge I cook up.

Today I love dreaming about drinking coffee while sitting in Rock The Boat blue chairs on the front porch in the warmth of a mild April day.

Kelly Babcock

I was born in the city of Toronto in 1959, but moved when I was in my fourth year of life. I was raised and educated in a rural setting, growing up in a manner I like to refer to as free range. I live on the traditional lands of the Chippewas of Nawash in an area where my family history stretches back 6 or 7 generations and my First Nations friend's families go back hundreds of generations. I was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 50 and have been both struggling with the new reality and using my discoveries to make my life better. I am a freelance writer and I write two blogs here at Psych Central, one about living with ADHD and one that is a daily positive affirmation that acts as an example of finding the good in as much of my life as I possibly can.
