Today I love fearless Fridays in which I bravely declare that all work will stop for the weekend at the end of this day and we will enjoy ourselves safely here at home. I love that yesterday I made banana bread in the new oven and it dammed well turned out great! I love that we bought a floor model oven and it boldly arrived at our house sans manual and the manual online seems to be for a slightly different model and somewhat incomplete but I am having so much fun figuring out all the bells and whistles on it. I love that we are forced to cook in the oven, on the barbecue, in the microwave, and in the instant pot and slow cooker for the duration as we anxiously await the installation of our cook top, and this is making us explore our oven and our diversity of ability. I love that we started out being excited about our new kitchen space and are now growing fond of it while remaining excited enough to keep us busy in there. I love that we are adapting to changes while the world is doing the same, love that it all seems part and parcel of the same thing, love that change is inevitable and that the changes we make now in our kitchen will mostly be for the better for us and the changes we make in the world will mostly be for the better for everyone.
Today I love that I am breathing easier in the world these days, that the air tastes cleaner to me and that the science is telling me that it is cleaner. I love that we are trying to keep our footprint small even as we do big things here. I love that we pulled back our renovation to something more manageable for us and now it looks like that was the best thing we could have done. I love that the end result will still be much of what we wanted.
Today I love that I am going to work on a side project later today or maybe on the weekend. I love that it is a project that makes me happy, one that revisits my cabinetry skills and reminds me of where I came from, who my grandpa was, how easy it is to do things well when you care about doing things well. I love that I do not work as a cabinet maker, but that I am able to use some of those skills in my life.
Today I love drinking coffee and enjoying banana bread while I contemplate the way the world is these days and its potential to be even better than it has been thus far.
