Today I Love Esculents

kitchen island with things on it
Working on things …

Today I love esculents no matter where they came from. I love cookies and quick breads and dinners of a succulent nature, I love food of all manners and types and must confess that it is one of the greater joys of living for me. I love making good food and I love hearing about others cooking things they are proud of. I love hearing about birthdays that involved multiple cakes even though the birthday celebrant and her family are in isolation like the rest of us. I love hearing about Montreal bagels being made right here in Owen Sound. I love that many people I know find comfort and joy in their kitchens and I love that I am one of those even though I have been feeling burdened with the finishing of my kitchen. I love that the burden of wanting my kitchen finished is tempered by the slow and steady progress we are making on it. I love that things like backsplash tiles and flooring are not in the immediate plans for a while yet, but in the plans they are and ideas keep coming to us about what we might do for those things. I love that our grocery order that we placed yesterday was here in a couple of hours. I love that my kitchen is where I like to hang out now, even though it isn’t finished yet. I love that it is now a comfortable layout and an easy place to work in.

Today I love that I will be having my picture taken later today with a prop that appears dangerous for a blog post I’ve been contemplating for a long time. I love that this is a warning, the prop is a fake that I made myself. I love the way my wild and adventurous mind works, even though it is a job to keep it in check at times. I love how it skips from one thing to another. I love that I finally remembered to make porridge yesterday, though i freely admit that I was reminded.

Today I love plans for date squares. I love that the lawn swing has been set up in the back yard. I love that today is supposed to be another mild one. I love that we have been walking almost every day and feeling good about that. I love that someone in this house gets footsteps counted when they play the piano, I find that to be hilariously good fun. I love that when I’m working outside and the piano is being played inside it can be heard, beautiful wonderful melodies and thundering bass accompaniment all coming from the same place and flooding my home with musical magic.

Today I love drinking coffee in the kitchen while I work away on things and plans and stuff that needs worked on.

Today I Love Esculents

Kelly Babcock

I was born in the city of Toronto in 1959, but moved when I was in my fourth year of life. I was raised and educated in a rural setting, growing up in a manner I like to refer to as free range. I live in an area where my family history stretches back 6 or more generations. I was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 50 and have been both struggling with the new reality and using my discoveries to make my life better. I write two blogs here at Psych Central, one about having ADHD and one that is a daily positive affirmation that acts as an example of finding the good in as much of my life as I possibly can.
