Today I Love Running Water

microwave and oven
The microwave found its way home

Today I love running water in my kitchen and I am hoping that will be a reality before this day is over, even if it is in a temporary sink installation. I love that the new oven is in. I love that another big piece of the remaining old kitchen will be gone by the end of this day because I intend to haul it out of the house myself. I love that we are taken measures to keep safe and be safe. I love that my contractor who has often been my boss and is now my employee on this particular job is still on the job, taking care of things that need doing here at this job site. I love that we are both at high risk during the pandemic due to our personal health situations, but we have very positive attitudes and also we have to bicker and grumble at each other a lot so who has time to worry, eh? I love that once the plumbing is done for now we are not very likely to need any more materials for a while and that means we can just work away in peace and isolation, not have to take crazy precautions to go out and acquire things just to get running water. I love water very much and hope to have it running in my new kitchen soon so that I can appreciate it even more.

Today I love that the sun is shining and the temperature will be above freezing before the morning is over. I love that there is a good chance I will spend some time outside today, like when I walk my partner to the office to check in there and make sure everything is okay. I love that we have been walking in the evening when very few people are out and about and maybe the same is true in the day time, but we’ve been to busy to be out to notice. I love long walks and getting exercise and keeping fit. I love that my body knows that the fitter I am the better my health will be no matter what happens to me, even if I get sick.

Today I love plans to make sandwiches for lunch. I love that the barbecue looks like it will be pressed into service tonight for supper making. I love that the oven is in and works. I love that the microwave has found its new home and it looks good there too. I love that things are coming together slowly but with certainty.

Today I love sipping coffee and waiting excitedly for the day to warm up.

Kelly Babcock

I was born in the city of Toronto in 1959, but moved when I was in my fourth year of life. I was raised and educated in a rural setting, growing up in a manner I like to refer to as free range. I live in an area where my family history stretches back 6 or more generations. I was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 50 and have been both struggling with the new reality and using my discoveries to make my life better. I write two blogs here at Psych Central, one about having ADHD and one that is a daily positive affirmation that acts as an example of finding the good in as much of my life as I possibly can.
