Today I Love Kelly’s Island

Welcome to Kelly’s Island

Today I love Kelly’s Island which is what I’ve decided to call the new island in our new kitchen and now all I need to do is get other people onboard with this new name policy and it will be official. I love that we now have a range hood with a vent fan and even though there is no cook top underneath it yet it is a glorious and beautiful thing to behold. I love that we are still at least three weeks from having a completed kitchen here but I still made breakfast in the new kitchen this morning. I love that the oven will be in place by the end of tomorrow. I love that there will soon be a temporary sink and a temporary counter in place and that the decking on the island is a perfectly serviceable area to work on even though the counter top for it is also not here yet. I love that once the oven is in place the fridge can finally be moved in because the oven will no longer be sitting idly in the fridges space. I love that the fridge does not seem upset at all by this, I have such patient appliances. I love that I am getting more excited with each passing day of renovations and am so looking forward to the final kitchen, and even the rest of the down stairs, though I may not notice that part for a while once the kitchen is done.

Today I love this sunny bold day of light and color. I love that there are many things to do in Spring and I love that doing them always makes me feel good; clean the yard, get out the lawn furniture, contemplate the dock and when to put it into the bay, figure out the perfect time to start writing on the front porch again, all the Spring things. I love Spring as much as all the other seasons and more than the other ones when it is here.

Today I love that we are making plans to hit the road and check out the cottage. I love that we may actually end up going the other way for a bit of a side trip before or after we go to the cottage to see if we can find some stools for Kelly’s Island. I love that there is electricity in the island now and the receptacles are alive which means the slow cooker and the instant pot are totally usable cooking appliances in the new space and that means that oatmeal is started and will be ready in just eight hours right here on danged old Kelly’s Island.

Today I love drinking my coffee and writing on Kelly’s Island while the oatmeal slowly cooks beside me.

I was born in the city of Toronto in 1959, but moved when I was in my fourth year of life. I was raised and educated in a rural setting, growing up in a manner I like to refer to as free range. I live in an area where my family history stretches back 6 or more generations. I was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 50 and have been both struggling with the new reality and using my discoveries to make my life better.
