Today I Love True Determination

Today I love true determination that resolutely leads to decisions and plans and successes. I love that moving forward and trusting oneself to make decisions as they are needed is always an adventure and often feels like taking risks, but usually ends up with things turning out well for all involved. I love that we have made many choices in the last 48 hours about what we’re doing with our kitchen and living room and some of them have resulted in savings and and some have resulted in being happy with what is going to occur and some of them have resulted in both savings and happiness. I love that the ones that made us happy but didn’t result in savings didn’t cost much more and some of them didn’t cost anything. I really love that there will be some things that I am familiar with, cupboards with glass doors, drawers that hold pots, an oven in the wall. I really, really love that I am finally going to have my gas cook top that I’ve wanted for years. I love that we’ve chosen colors for the upper cabinets and the lower cabinets, and we’ve chosen our counter top and our cook top and our oven and our vent hood and so many, many more things and it just makes me more excited. I love that the kitchen will end up being a place where we can entertain when people come to visit and refuse to leave the kitchen as people are sometimes wont to do. I love that I have a couple of months or more to go before this all becomes a reality because the months of looking forward to it are always exciting times when renovations are being done.

Today I Love that tonight I’m off to a meeting about Summerfolk because the festival is very mature and it is time to take stock of where we’re at and figure out where we want to be going next. I love that Summerfolk is such a great celebration of music and I love that celebrating music is something I enjoy doing. I love that I know so many musicians personally and many more professionally. I love that I have my hearing or what is left of it because I love music so much.

Today I love that though we have fallen behind a bit on food prep for the coming week we are going to get on the ball here shortly and get working on that and it will be a sight to behold I assure you. I love that we are talking about making enough meals to get us through a bunch of days when our kitchen’s location is in flux. I love that my mouth is watering just talking about what meals we could make ahead and freeze. I love food very much. I love my own cooking and I love that after years of practice I don’t brag about my own cooking nearly as much as I used to.

Today I love sipping coffee while I’m all calm and quiet on the outside and a mad, wild party of excitement on the inside.

Kelly Babcock

I was born in the city of Toronto in 1959, but moved when I was in my fourth year of life. I was raised and educated in a rural setting, growing up in a manner I like to refer to as free range. I live in an area where my family history stretches back 6 or more generations. I was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 50 and have been both struggling with the new reality and using my discoveries to make my life better. I write two blogs here at Psych Central, one about having ADHD and one that is a daily positive affirmation that acts as an example of finding the good in as much of my life as I possibly can.
