Today I love stormy weather when there have been plenty of warnings and we’re all prepared. I love that, although plans can change when the weather decides to have a tantrum, if we let go of the plans we had it is easy enough to make plans that are just as good. I love that I am looking forward to whatever comes of this weather because, and I freely admit this, I find wild weather to be beautiful. I love when bad weather turns out not to be as bad as was expected and I hope no one is hurt this weekend, but I also love when freezing rain turns trees into glass and fields of snow into satin sheets. I love thunder and lightning and watching storms come and go. I love wild winter storms that dump snow down on us and then use the wind to sculpt it with fine details and sweeping lines of beautiful curves and curls. I love when the storm ends and you can hear people digging out, snow blowers firing up all along the street, cars heading out for more supplies. I love when there has been a good long storm and then things calm down and the sky clears and the sun sets on a perfectly still landscape of sculptured snow. I love this planet and I love the weather no matter what the season and I love finding the beauty of this planet right outside my door every day.
Today I love that tonight we curl again. I love that the league from my old home town curls on Friday afternoons at my club and I think I’m going to go watch them play today. I love that the club is easy walking distance from my house. I love how easy it is to get my mind into a game of curling whether I’m playing or just watching. I love that the Winter Youth Olympic Games are on in Switzerland and there is, of course, curling to be watched. I love how this game from my ancestral family home has taken over the world and is especially popular in my own country. I love knowing fun things about curling like the fact that all official curling stones are made from rock from one of only two quarries in the world.
Today I love all the food we had in this house this week and that there is still a considerable quantity of it here. I love that my kitchen is reasonably clean this morning. I love that I slept like a stone last night after a tiring couple of days. I love that I managed to vacuum the kitchen and breakfast area yesterday though I have to admit that it takes very little effort to watch a Roomba roam around the floor.
Today I love sipping my coffee while Turkey and Sweden’s youth meet on a sheet of ice to challenge each other to do their best with rocks and brooms and skill and luck.
