Today I Love Packages In Transit

chair, coffee
The vacant chair that I think in between chores

Today I love packages in transit. I love that we ordered loud curling pants and they are on their way. I love that they are exactly the kind of thing one wears when one needs to take ones self less seriously and I am always working on that. I love that the other person here in the casa just wants good durable pants that will look fun and they are that as well. I love that these pants will be all things to each of us, yay! I love that these pants will in no way make my game any better but they will make my playing more entertaining for those who play with me. I love that I threw twelve practice rocks last night and never hogged any and didn’t flash the house (sail straight through) more than once if that. I love that by the twelfth rock I had an idea of what the ice was doing and how to compensate for the changes that we experienced. I love that curling is a game of learning every time. I love that there is rumblings of partners playing together on teams in the next draw, though I freely admit that I am the one starting the rumblings. I love that we did that once two years ago and it turned out to be a lot of fun. I love this game and all the fun we have playing it.

Today I love that tomorrow we are on the road and it looks like the weather will be just passive winter stuff and that’s pretty easy to deal with. I love that I am going to miss my Wednesday office once again and that makes three weeks in a row so when I get back there it’s going to be like coming home from a long, long trip. I love that I neither get tired of doing the same thing over and over nor do I get upset with things being changed around, that’s probably why I love all the seasons of the year so much.

Today I love that there are so many different things that need doing, writing, laundry, dishes, getting eggs, cooking, the list seems endless, and the likelihood of me getting bored is so minuscule that I’m excited just contemplating all the things I have on my agenda. I love that there are good things to be gained from the most mundane, routine chores, ’cause I have a bunch of them to do.

Today I love drinking coffee in the big old chair while I work away at all the things that need doing and slowly get excited about the package of cool curling pants in transit.

Kelly Babcock

I was born in the city of Toronto in 1959, but moved when I was in my fourth year of life. I was raised and educated in a rural setting, growing up in a manner I like to refer to as free range. I live on the traditional lands of the Chippewas of Nawash in an area where my family history stretches back 6 or 7 generations and my First Nations friend's families go back hundreds of generations. I was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 50 and have been both struggling with the new reality and using my discoveries to make my life better. I am a freelance writer and I write two blogs here at Psych Central, one about living with ADHD and one that is a daily positive affirmation that acts as an example of finding the good in as much of my life as I possibly can.
