Today I love Fixing My Things

snow blower
Lethargy cured, moving forward again

Today I love fixing my things like this old discontinued snowblower from that old discontinued store. I love that it will darned well keep on going until I let it die and that’s not happening for some years my friends! I love that I have a thousand plans and ideas going on in my head for the changes we’re talking about doing and that is good, ’cause it’s when my mind works best, immersed in a project that interests me. I love that somehow the things I am seeing for this project are being seen by others who agree, that’s so good it’s almost scary. I love that there is still laundry going on this week, because I love the sound of the laundry rumbling in the old laundry room, it makes the place seem alive and on schedule, even when it clearly is running late. I love that the food we made lasted the whole week and that it is almost the weekend and that’s when we start cooking more food. I love that this weekend will be a road trip weekend and a birthday party weekend and these things make me happy, ’cause we usually enjoy our time on the road, conversations happen and contemplative time happens and it’s all good. I love that we know how to make coffee for the road and we have containers that keep it hot for hours. I love that everything seems to be okay these days.

Today I love that it is Friday and that means curling. I love that tonight’s curling match will be a household event since we here at the casa are curling against each other and that means that we’re both guaranteed second place and one of us will take first place, both of us if we tie. I love that when we usually come home from curling we tell each other about our games but tonight we’ll be reminiscing about the game we had together. I love that our teams are going to have to deal with the fact that we are friends and family first, but since we both love to curl it won’t be too bad, we’ll still be trying to win for our team’s sake.

Today I love that it is pie day here, ’cause I was asked to make pies for the birthday party tomorrow. I love that part of the impetus for the kitchen renovation is wanting an island counter that will be cold enough and big enough to roll out pastry and then I swear I will stop buying them when I need them and start making them in advance again.

Today I love sipping coffee while the washing machine rumbles and I dream of making pastry again.

Kelly Babcock

I was born in the city of Toronto in 1959, but moved when I was in my fourth year of life. I was raised and educated in a rural setting, growing up in a manner I like to refer to as free range. I live in an area where my family history stretches back 6 or more generations. I was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 50 and have been both struggling with the new reality and using my discoveries to make my life better. I write two blogs here at Psych Central, one about having ADHD and one that is a daily positive affirmation that acts as an example of finding the good in as much of my life as I possibly can.
