Today I Love Friends

Me, smiling, a little
Ya gotta smile …

Today I love friends, the ones I know and the ones I have yet to meet. I love people who care more than their job requires them to. I love people who are cheerful and smiling, the ones who light up when they smile and look like they are just waiting for any reason to smile when they aren’t yet smiling. I love the ones who don’t smile often but when they do it fits their faces so well. I love that no one ever looks bad with a smile on their face. I love that I make every effort to make people smile whenever I can. I love when I succeed at that. I love people who show concern and worry for others but in the middle of doing that they will smile to put people at their ease. I love people who know how to use their smile to comfort others. I love that someone smiling is a good way to help others feel better. I love that smiles show happiness and share happiness at the same time. I love that friends share smiles and that smiles often make friends. I love that friendship and smiling are both great examples of compounding interest.

Today I love that I got so much done yesterday, and even though I didn’t get everything done it was a spectacular day of achievement. I love that I am tired now and I feel justified in my tiredness because I accomplished lots. I love that food was cooked and writing was done and items picked up and appointments were gotten to, that I gassed up the car and paid some bills and did some banking and got my prescriptions filled and the world felt right when I was ready for bed. I love that, though I’m not feeling as good today as I think I should be feeling, I’ve got a start on the things I do on Wednesdays, I’m at my Wednesday office and I’m on top of the world I choose to stay in.

Today I love hanging out at the Wednesday office. I love keeping in touch with my feelings. I love cinnamon buns and may have to indulge in one before the morning wanes, though I did have a huge breakfast. I love that I have also been contemplating making cinnamon buns at home and that might happen yet, though not today. I love that I take chances with my heart every day and that it almost always wins, that’s what love is all about.

Today I love drinking coffee in the Wednesday office and contemplating love and smiles and friends.

Kelly Babcock

I was born in the city of Toronto in 1959, but moved when I was in my fourth year of life. I was raised and educated in a rural setting, growing up in a manner I like to refer to as free range. I live in an area where my family history stretches back 6 or more generations. I was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 50 and have been both struggling with the new reality and using my discoveries to make my life better. I write two blogs here at Psych Central, one about having ADHD and one that is a daily positive affirmation that acts as an example of finding the good in as much of my life as I possibly can.
