Today I love could mountains marching east across the sky. I love that they are blending in with the grey sky but still they remind me of the times I’ve seen cloud masses on the horizon that looked like distant mountains. I love that these ones are close enough that they are clearly moving, moving mountains of mist. I love that I am at the cottage watching the easy, lazy scene outside the window while I write. I love that this is a take it gentle day and though there is lots to do we are doing it with tranquil and quiet ease. I love that there are destinations for the day and one of them is the curling club that will round out our day’s activities. I love climbing as high as I can go in my day’s activities and being happy with what I’ve managed to get done. I love the comfort that contentment brings and I love that contentment is a learned practice despite the assertion that some make that it is acquired. I love knowing that people who strive to acquire enough to foster contentment can still eventually learn that there is no successful end to that journey. I love that I still laugh at how long it took me to learn that lesson, and that if I’m being honest I maybe still have a bit to learn of that one.
Today I love that this is December, and though it marks the end of the year with its own end, I love that it does that with a bang and a lot of excitement. I love that people have plans to gather together and wish each other well and enjoy the company of one and other and that this has already started. I love that we joined with dragon boating friends to march in a Santa Claus parade in my old home town and then all met at one member’s home for a gathering with food and fun. I love that we will continue to meet with friends and family until the year is over and then we will begin to do that again to make the best of the new year when it arrives.
Today I love cottage breakfasts whether they are just the two of us or a loud group of folks stumbling over each other. I love that this day’s breakfast was one of the quiet ones with just us two. I love that we are inside in the dry protection of this place, watching as the rain subdues the first snow that fell and now is quietly disappearing.
Today I love sitting in my cottage office chair and sipping coffee while the cloud mountains march resolutely by.
