Today I Love Taking Care Of Things

It’s a Wednesday office Monday kind of day

Today I love taking care of things and checking them off the list. I love that I know well enough how that old list will always be there and things get added to it, but it’s like a river, and I just keep doing things and I get to stay in equilibrium, not moving upstream too quickly, but not getting washed downstream either. I love that sometimes maintaining the status quo is all right and sometimes it’s more than enough and sometimes, on rare occasions, it’s a total giant win and an all around success. I love that sometimes things pop up and we have to take a moment or an hour and figure out what to do about them and other times things come up and I just see how to fix them or take care of them in the heat of the moment and I just do it. I love that our cottage neighbor was kind of stuck yesterday because he drove his vehicle down to the cottage to load some things and it was too slippery to drive it back up so we went over and helped him get it out. I love that I kind of decided that I could drive it out of there and with a little help I walked it up that hill to the bare gravel and stepped out of the thing with a farm boy strut and was all “Ain’t no thing” with my attitude. Ha ha.

Today I love that I’m hanging at the Wednesday office and yes, I know it’s a Monday but that’s the way the cookie crumbles and yes, I just might buy a cookie here before the day is out, or I’ll make plans to bake some cookies tomorrow and that’s just as good. I love how easy it is to just drop my plans for the day and hit the road to this other town I spend time in and that I made the decision as soon as I heard that there was an opportunity to do it this morning. I love that my life has enough structure to keep me on track but isn’t so rigid that I can’t mix things up when the opportunity arises.

Today I love how much fun we’re having with this new pressure cooking craze, and how many things we’re trying now. I love that we found a bamboo steamer set that fits perfectly in our pressure cooker and I suspect there will be steamed things soon.I love that we sometimes experiment and sometimes we just fall back on old familiar things to eat and I love that both are great.

Today I love drinking coffee in the Wednesday office on a Monday, it kind of feels like a sort of a holiday because, as they say, a change is as good as a rest.

Kelly Babcock

I was born in the city of Toronto in 1959, but moved when I was in my fourth year of life. I was raised and educated in a rural setting, growing up in a manner I like to refer to as free range. I live on the traditional lands of the Chippewas of Nawash in an area where my family history stretches back 6 or 7 generations and my First Nations friend's families go back hundreds of generations. I was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 50 and have been both struggling with the new reality and using my discoveries to make my life better. I am a freelance writer and I write two blogs here at Psych Central, one about living with ADHD and one that is a daily positive affirmation that acts as an example of finding the good in as much of my life as I possibly can.
