Today I love Santa Claus and the little bit of him that is in each and every one of us that, when taken as a whole, makes him the most amazing of all the magical creatures that dwells on this earth in the hearts of humanity. I love that he freely admits that he needs all of us to help him to exist and to do all the things that he is capable of. I love that he is fully aware of what contributions others make to keep his spirit alive and that in return he gives what we all give and then adds a pinch of magic to make it just that little bit more wonderful. I love getting the opportunity to do my small part every year, and I love that I start thinking of the things I can do each year on the day of our local Santa Claus Parade, which happened today. I love that even though the parade was well over an hour long I stood and watched the whole thing and even though I could not feel my feet by the end of it (should have worn the felt pack boots) I still hung out until Santa showed up and ho ho ho’d his way past us. I love this time of the year.
Today I love that we made it to the market and had breakfast before the parade, and I love that we got the things we needed and even a couple of things that just caught our eyes, like a new knitting book and a big ol’ bag of heirloom carrots. I love that we have started taking our own reusable plates to get our breakfast on and it’s working out quite well. I love that no one looks oddly at us and some look like they were just given a great idea. I love that we haven’t used or thrown out a paper plate in over a month. I love that we also take reusable containers to get our other market stuff in and so we’re not throwing out plastic bags as much as we used to.
Today I love long underwear. I love felt pack boots (why didn’t I wear them?). I love that last night I had a great game of curling with my friend Anne and it was back and forth for a bit but she won in the end. I love that last night’s game was the first time this team of mine was ever in the lead for a while and that made them happy. I love that Anne taught me a lot about curling when I first started playing the game and it is always fun to play against her.
Today I love drinking coffee in front of the fireplace while my frozen feet slowly thaw out.
