Today I Love People Who Try

So long to mixed emotions

Today I love people who try to make the things they want in their lives happen. I love the ones who hold out hope and make the trying as important as the doing. I love the ones who follow the road no matter where it leads and don’t sit down to rest until the road leads them to a resting place. I love that sometimes there are difficult choices to make and hard paths to follow and the ones who are determined are the ones that are content with the outcome and have no regrets because even if it doesn’t work out they are the ones who know they tried their best. I love tenacious and determined love. I love people who make the world aware that they care and what they care about. I love that those who care passionately about things are the ones who lead in my life and those who seem to be passionate about not caring are the ones we are patiently waiting on to figure out this thing called life. I love that those who care know that life has no other purpose and that telling others that will not help them figure it out, but showing them how it works sometimes eventually succeeds. I love the ones who keep showing others how to care.

Today I love that I threw 10 ends worth of rocks at the curling club last night in about an hour and the last ones were pretty wobbly but they made it to the other end of the sheet. I love that I threw seven take out shots in a row and that five of them made contact and four of them were pretty good and that’s not too shabby for a guy throwing rocks one right after another when in games we throw two rocks with a small break in between and then don’t throw any more until six other people have each done that and a score has been determined for the end. I love that I get to practice a bit every now and then.

Today I love that I fell victim to a clearance sale and now have a good, nearly new but still used stand mixer for sale, ’cause I don’t need two of them. I love that the plan is to do a little baking this afternoon if I get my errands run and my laundry in and my truck unloaded and my work done in time. I love that, yes indeed it is good old glorious laundry day and that anchors my week and makes me smile every dang time.

Today I love sipping coffee while I recover from the realization that I’ve got a lot to do today.

Today I Love People Who Try

Kelly Babcock

I was born in the city of Toronto in 1959, but moved when I was in my fourth year of life. I was raised and educated in a rural setting, growing up in a manner I like to refer to as free range. I live on the traditional lands of the Chippewas of Nawash in an area where my family history stretches back 6 or 7 generations and my First Nations friend's families go back hundreds of generations. I was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 50 and have been both struggling with the new reality and using my discoveries to make my life better. I am a freelance writer and I write two blogs here at Psych Central, one about living with ADHD and one that is a daily positive affirmation that acts as an example of finding the good in as much of my life as I possibly can.
