Today I Love Last Minute Lunch With Friends

sunlight on blinds
A pretty, bright day

Today I love last minute lunch with friends, especially friends that we do other things with, like singing and curling and stuff. I love that we have so many varied interests when it comes to cuisine. I love that the instigator of this lunch was music-ing it up at the open mic on Friday last and got us up on stage with her and the three of us sang of all our hopes and dreams by singing that song of wistfulness and desire, If I Had A Million Dollars that the Bare Naked Ladies wrote and performed originally, and that was great. I love that said instigator has also been a member of my band, Hot Black Coffee and is one of the hosts of the radio show that we both do. I love that said instigator, Kailey, is part of our lives, ’cause she’s the bomb-dot-com. I love that lunch will likely be loud and full of laughter and that the other people there with me will also likely make some sounds and possibly chuckle a bit too. I love that lunch won’t be complete unless I can get at least one person to roll their eyes at me, and I love that this is not a difficult task. I love that last minute lunch is exactly what my community is all about, this is life in the “Oh Dot”, the town we call Owen Sound.

Today I love that I have had dreams these last two nights in a row, and though I’m told that everyone dreams, it is uncommon for me to remember dreaming, so I’m looking forward to hitting the bunk tonight to see if this persists. I love that my dreams all seem so simple and yet they are quite weird when I reflect on them. I love how people are just there and then when I wake up I realize that the people I dreamed about with a sense of “oh yeah, that’s so and so,” are people I haven’t seen in years, or they start out as one person and then we walk through a door and they become someone else and we go to do something and they are a different person yet again. I love that none of this bothers me until I wake up and think about it.

Today I love having to close the blinds in order to eat breakfast because this day is such a brilliant and sunny one. I love that it started out grey when I woke up. I love that we’ve been instant potting, and not in the garden, ha. I love that we feel like we could get into a little bit of trouble if we don’t report on everything we do in the instant pot.

Today I love drinking coffee while I rehash my dreams and we get ready for last minute lunch.

Kelly Babcock

I was born in the city of Toronto in 1959, but moved when I was in my fourth year of life. I was raised and educated in a rural setting, growing up in a manner I like to refer to as free range. I live in an area where my family history stretches back 6 or more generations. I was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 50 and have been both struggling with the new reality and using my discoveries to make my life better. I write two blogs here at Psych Central, one about having ADHD and one that is a daily positive affirmation that acts as an example of finding the good in as much of my life as I possibly can.
