Today I love getting back into my routine after having a long weekend of conferencing and company and lots of good times and fun. I love that it is Tuesday and everything is back to normal or at least normal-ish. I love that the world is a white wonder of magic today, snow and cold and clean and sleepy and everything like that. I love that sweaters are the rule of the day, parkas are now outside clothes and boots can get me through anything I have to walk through. I love that the snowblower started right up this autumn and is ready for when the snowfall gets out of hand and has to be moved with serious intent. I love perfectly cleared driveways and well cleaned front steps. I love sidewalks that shiver under the snow cover, love how you can almost hear their dreams of sunny summer days with children drawing chalk masterpieces on them. I love that the winter erases the drawing of the last three seasons from every corner of my home here, like a new blank canvass, like it takes the earth and turns it upside down and shakes it like an Etch-A-Sketch and then along comes Spring and the beautiful picture of life starts over again.
Today I love that last night I threw rocks at the rink and that was okay. I love how easy it is to get back into the hack, to fold up into the set position and then to release out over the ice, it seems so natural and easy even though I have trouble just bending over because of the arthritis, how does that even work? I love that when practice was done I had lots of time to watch a few live ends of the Ladies league and they always have so much fun. I love that I still get to curl this Friday so the weeks curling is not yet over.
Today I love pondering what to put in the oatmeal for the week. I love that I’m thinking about going on a frozen fruit buying expedition, and that might just happen. I love that we keep talking about renovating the kitchen and lately we’ve been talking about it more like “when we do it” rather than “if we do it.” I love that we got some neat goodies at the crazy big supermarket and one of them was new bamboo steamer baskets. I love that we got the game console going yesterday and managed to play nine holes of golf with flaky controllers. I love that I obviously need to use the game console more often to keep it in good working order.
Today I love drinking my coffee in the quiet of an empty house and contemplating all the things I have to do.
