Today I Love Curling For Charity

Curling shoes and brush
Shoes and Broom and I’m ready to go

Today I love curling for charity, though to be honest, I love doing anything for charity and I’ll curl for any reason, so this is pretty much a no brainer, or … it’s the most perfect juxtaposition of activity meets purpose ever. I love that to add to the dual goodness of this I am once again bringing someone who has never curled to play on our team in my ongoing effort to introduce the sport to more people. I love that this is the perfect time to do that because then someone who has not experienced curling in a game gets to do that when there’s no pressure on them to perform beyond the first timer level because we often don’t bother to keep score in the normal manner at these fundraiser games. I love that since scoring is often done in unorthodox ways a newbie has almost as much chance of scoring as an old pro does. I love that that makes him our ringer of sorts. I love that the whole point of today is to laugh and have fun and raise some awareness and some donations for the Firefighter’s toy drive and that is how we all win. I love that my online friend, Rob Hassard, has graciously accepted the challenge to try curling this year and we’re going to look after him and make sure we don’t break him and return him home in good and serviceable condition.

Today I love that we got to the market and did our usual breakfast thing. I love that we did other errands and still found our way back home at a decent time. I love that I get to break out my audio gear so that we can have some seasonal tunes on the ice while we curl. I love that it is Saturday and even though we thought we would be trying to rest this weekend, we’re okay with it getting a bit busy on us; maybe we’ll rest tomorrow.

Today I love that we have joined the Instant Pot craze, do you have that where you live? I love that we’ve cooked some pretty good meals in it already and we are happy about the convenience so far. I love that my kitchen is still a mess and that it may not actually get cleaned up until tomorrow even though I said I was going to do it this morning. And why do I love that you might well ask? Because I love that I have learned not to worry about some things as much as I used to worry.

Today I love sipping coffee while I plan on loading gear and going curling and having fun and helping fund raise

Kelly Babcock

I was born in the city of Toronto in 1959, but moved when I was in my fourth year of life. I was raised and educated in a rural setting, growing up in a manner I like to refer to as free range. I live in an area where my family history stretches back 6 or more generations. I was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 50 and have been both struggling with the new reality and using my discoveries to make my life better. I write two blogs here at Psych Central, one about having ADHD and one that is a daily positive affirmation that acts as an example of finding the good in as much of my life as I possibly can.
