Today I Love The Roguish Clouds That Bluster

cloudy sky
Freeze frame of moving clouds, kinda dull but … lovely

Today I love the roguish clouds that bluster and billow over my yard and past my back window on their way to who knows what Southern climes. I love that the wind up at the cloud’s level is from the north and that always makes them look determined and purposeful as they sail past. I love how clouds and winds can be going one way in such a hurry up there while the breezes down here on earth can be delightfully tickling past in a completely different direction. I love the way the world works and I hope it keeps working. I love that a lot of the leaves are hanging on here and are still green, though those that have changed are all in and glorious. I love that I was out in the driveway first thing this morning and it was brisk and fresh and I didn’t want to come back into the house. I love that I end up in the driveway every working day even though I’m usually not going anywhere, just ’cause I love to load the car and send the rest of my household off to work, and that affords me the opportunity to be in touch with my world outdoors. I love that I insist on going out no matter the weather, I am invested in my world and love to keep in touch.

Today I love that tonight we curl for the first time in the first draw of our league play, it’s official, it’s on! I love that my team is all people who are new to our league and two of them are new to curling and I still think we have a good chance of coming in at least second in every game we play. I love that curling is actually like playing six or more miniature games against the same team in one evening. I love getting to share the things I know about curling with people who want to learn and I love learning the things that others are willing to share with me. I love that I get to pass on the things that I’ve been given, if we could just remind the world that life is as simple as that …

Today I love that this weekend is full of adventures, music shows, curling games, cider pressing, road trips, and other things that may come up. I love that I was hoping to watch a movie this weekend, and I’m only marginally upset that the one I hoped to watch will not get here because I forgot to order it until last night, oh well.  I love that if we watch a movie this weekend it will be a good one, ’cause it will be watched together and at home.

Today I love drinking coffee and contemplating clouds while they go wandering by in their billowy, blustering state of being.

Kelly Babcock

I was born in the city of Toronto in 1959, but moved when I was in my fourth year of life. I was raised and educated in a rural setting, growing up in a manner I like to refer to as free range. I live on the traditional lands of the Chippewas of Nawash in an area where my family history stretches back 6 or 7 generations and my First Nations friend's families go back hundreds of generations. I was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 50 and have been both struggling with the new reality and using my discoveries to make my life better. I am a freelance writer and I write two blogs here at Psych Central, one about living with ADHD and one that is a daily positive affirmation that acts as an example of finding the good in as much of my life as I possibly can.
