Today I Love Keeping Up

blue sky and spruce tree
It’s a blue sky kind of day

Today I love keeping up with all the things I have to do, though in truth, sometimes keeping up is more a case of judiciously deciding what I can just take off my to do list without actually doing. I love when that happens, but I love not being too stressed too so I’m good with moving things to the “to do some other time” list when I have to. I love how much like creative accounting that is, and I love creative accounting, at least I love the concept of it as a device in novels, I’m lost when it comes to accounting and just try to get the basics done so I can keep the tax man happy until I move on to the next thing after this. I love following my heart, it and my brain both have ideas about where I should go and my brain tells me I’ll be happy if I listen to it, but my heart knows from happy where my brain mostly only knows from fear and how to avoid it and it never notices that it’s already afraid; follow your heart, ‘kay? Good. I love that I follow my brain often enough to keep it from freaking out, but my brain has also come to realize that following my heart is a good thing.

Today I love that the dragon boat is scheduled to go out again tonight and I will be there to experience that again. I love how powerful our crew has gotten this season, and that we had that wonderful boat going over 25 kilometers and hour which translates to a minute and 12 seconds to do a 500 meter race if we could keep it going that speed for that long, ha ha. I love that we are a daring crew and although we are always conscious of safety we also follow our hearts and are there for the joy of it as well as the exercise and the socializing. I love that we still have a few good paddles left this season.

Today I love music in my house, ringing softly from the next room. I love having errands to run all over town because that makes me feel connected to my little city. I love that yesterday was a long but satisfying day with lots getting done and happy people reporting good things. I love that, although i missed seeing the Prime Minister in my town, a lot of my friends and contemporaries got to see him and even speak with him a little.

Today I love drinking coffee in my recliner while I finish up this first thing on my big long to do list for this wonderful day of things to keep up with.

Kelly Babcock

I was born in the city of Toronto in 1959, but moved when I was in my fourth year of life. I was raised and educated in a rural setting, growing up in a manner I like to refer to as free range. I live in an area where my family history stretches back 6 or more generations. I was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 50 and have been both struggling with the new reality and using my discoveries to make my life better. I write two blogs here at Psych Central, one about having ADHD and one that is a daily positive affirmation that acts as an example of finding the good in as much of my life as I possibly can.
