Today I Love chocolate

coffee, road
Road coffee, almost as good as chocolate

Today I love chocolate and I love that there are random stashes of it in our home. I love home made egg and English muffin sandwiches eaten on the road on a long haul non stop run to the deep south of the northern part of south western Ontario. Ha, that’s confusing, eh? I love that the road is an okay place to be as far as I’m concerned, though I wouldn’t want to have a job where I had to live on it. I love the way we organize and get ready, the way we have it all under control, as if that’s the way we live the rest of our lives. I love that there are parts of our lives that are this organized, but I’m not sure what they are just off hand, I just remember thinking that about some aspects of life recently. I love the way each hill and corner on the road reveals a new sight, a new trick of sunlight and clouds, a new view of the moon, a burst of color on leaves getting ready for Autumn’s visit which begins in three days time. I love the way the bones of the land I live in stick out here and there in limestone outcrops and li=ong spines of bluff and escarpment. I love the way that I can tell what time of year it is by leaves and flowers and fruits, and the animals and birds I see. I love that every season has a place in my heart and that the most beautiful thing about each one of them is that they give way to the next one.

Today I love that we are going to the cottage and should be there by the early afternoon. I love that I am in need of a good few hours of kicking back and relaxing and this afternoon will be that. I love how I have missed it so and how much I will relish being there. I love that the more I think about that place the more I’m convinced that I am going to go spend some serious time there yet, like maybe a couple of weeks or even more sometime in the near future. I love the peace and quiet there.

Today I love contemplating changing the kitchen around, even discussing moving it to the next room over. I love driving on roads that twist and turn. I love reminiscing about all the things I’ve done in my life for work and fun. I love that I am still doing new things and hope to keep that going for a few more decades.

Kelly Babcock

I was born in the city of Toronto in 1959, but moved when I was in my fourth year of life. I was raised and educated in a rural setting, growing up in a manner I like to refer to as free range. I live in an area where my family history stretches back 6 or more generations. I was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 50 and have been both struggling with the new reality and using my discoveries to make my life better. I write two blogs here at Psych Central, one about having ADHD and one that is a daily positive affirmation that acts as an example of finding the good in as much of my life as I possibly can.
