Today I love the blustering rain that is spattering on my windows and dampening the streets and the trees and the plants and the air. I love the gusting wind that comes and goes in bursts and swirls. I love the soft grey clouds that climb into the sky from the south-eastern edge and pass overhead in folds and bunches to the north-west. I love the silver blue back light of the contours of those clouds, and the mottled pastel charcoal shreds that float by underneath. I love days like this, I even love walking in this weather, sometimes without rain gear, feeling the wild power of the world and testing myself against it, pushing through the rain and wind, and making my way home again. I love watching storms pass by, and I love when they come from a distance and come straight to me, love when you can hear them from a mile away as they approach in a tantrum of weather wildness. I love when they arrive, when they pour down in a steady calm deluge and you can feel the earths anger dissipating as it finally lets it all out. I love when these things happen, and I love when people have storms and then move on too.
Today I love that I had a bad day yesterday, but the little parts that were good were enough to make the day a blessing and I will take that win every time. I love that I made an amazing stew and though we never got to eat it because a sealer jar broke in it (do not even ask!) it smelled so good and I’m going to try it again today and see if I can replicate it. I love that I had a good drive with the windows down and the tunes cranked and that was a nice bit of teenage reminiscence. I love that I spelled reminiscence right twice in a row without needing the spell check either time, yay me, fist pump, #It’sAWriterThing.
Today I love that my city seems to have opted to dig sign post holes using a massive sewer vacuum truck, a high pressure water cannon, and two men, one basically shooting at the earth and the other sucking up the dirt with the worlds biggest diesel powered vacuum cleaner … we’ve come such a long way from a guy in a pickup truck with a shovel, right? I love that there is a meme floating around Facebook that shows Maxime Bernier’s anti immigration billboard having been changed to say “Say no to ass man” and that is exactly what my country needs to see.
Today I love drinking coffee while the rain blusters at my window and the clouds scud by.
