Today I Love Scouts To The Rescue

Scouts to the rescue!!!

Today I love Scouts to the rescue when there’s an opportunity to help and they have the ability to do so. I love that although there is someone stupid enough to throw a picnic table and a traffic barricade into the bay there are people smart enough to fix that situation. I love that I got to see that happen, got to see a boat full of paddlers in one of our smaller Canadian canoes haul that picnic table back to shore where our crew was able to land it and set it right. I love seeing children in the water having fun. I love the sounds that are made by happy people of all ages at the beach. I love that we are almost done with the park and will soon turn the whole thing back over to the city and the people who are using it can go back to not having to worry about me and my big old truck hauling an even bigger old trailer over the hills and around the trees. I love that we do this festival here every year, there is no better place for it to happen. I love that I get to help so much with it.

Today I love that things will start getting back to normal tomorrow when I make my way to my Wednesday office again and settle down to working hard. I love that I intend to go swimming soon, and that is a promise I’m making to myself. I love that the cottage is calling me again, but I’m not sure how much time I’ll get to spend there this weekend because we’re off to a birthday party down the highway and that’s also something fun. I love that there will be lots of food there and I love food when it’s made by family.

Today I love that the car went for its oil change and it is ready to roll when ever we figure out an opportunity to go and get it. I love that my mechanic is such a great guy. I love that I’m planning to take out the new kayak sometime this weekend as well, to see how it works in comparison to its all yellow twin. I love keeping cool and quiet in the shade while the world round me shimmers in the heat. I love that I am still breathing, though I’m feeling pretty battered.

Today I love drinking coffee while the scouts go rescuing things from the water.

Today I Love Scouts To The Rescue

Kelly Babcock

I was born in the city of Toronto in 1959, but moved when I was in my fourth year of life. I was raised and educated in a rural setting, growing up in a manner I like to refer to as free range. I live on the traditional lands of the Chippewas of Nawash in an area where my family history stretches back 6 or 7 generations and my First Nations friend's families go back hundreds of generations. I was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 50 and have been both struggling with the new reality and using my discoveries to make my life better. I am a freelance writer and I write two blogs here at Psych Central, one about living with ADHD and one that is a daily positive affirmation that acts as an example of finding the good in as much of my life as I possibly can.
