Today I Love Interviewing Musicians

back stage at Summerfolk
Hanging out back stage …

Today I love interviewing musicians and talking to them about the connections that they have with the people like me who get to hear their work and their stories and their interpretations of the world as they see it. I love that I get to talk to people about their work. I love that today I interviewed Kathleen Edwards and last night I interviewed Laura and Pat from Carmanah band and all of them were wonderful. I love that I now have more things that I’ve done in my life, having added radio show host to the list and now interviewer. I love keeping busy and not getting bored, and having more than just a couple of jobs is how I manage to do that. I love my life, every part of it. I love that I have, and recognize the existence of, so many facets to my life and that is a treat because I’ve learned that life is short and that doing is better than dreaming. I love that part of the doing includes this daily affirmation of love of life and I get to benefit from this daily writing by being made to reflect on all the different things I do as my hours and days and weeks go by.

Today I love that last night back stage I saw a performer I thought I should know and then later I saw him on stage in a group and I heard his voice and I realized that the performer I thought he was, was Bill Bourne, and so I opened up my program and looked up the band that he was playing with and he was also named Bill Bourne and I thought that was quite a coincidence that two performers should look so much alike and have the same name and finally I realized that I am so sleep deprived that I was actually listening to the Bill Bourne and now I’ve asked to interview him and I’m contemplating telling him this story.

Today I love random poutine purchases for lunch and that might just happen. I love that I’m not hungry but in a strange way I’m kind of starved, I suspect I don’t need sustenance but I might be lacking in sodium or some other mineral. I love when that happens because what I need usually calls to me and I usually enjoy whatever it is that I eat to get the needed substance. I love eating food passionately.

Today I love drinking coffee while I write backstage about the things that go on in my life.

Today I Love Interviewing Musicians

Kelly Babcock

I was born in the city of Toronto in 1959, but moved when I was in my fourth year of life. I was raised and educated in a rural setting, growing up in a manner I like to refer to as free range. I live on the traditional lands of the Chippewas of Nawash in an area where my family history stretches back 6 or 7 generations and my First Nations friend's families go back hundreds of generations. I was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 50 and have been both struggling with the new reality and using my discoveries to make my life better. I am a freelance writer and I write two blogs here at Psych Central, one about living with ADHD and one that is a daily positive affirmation that acts as an example of finding the good in as much of my life as I possibly can.
