Today I love interviews like the one I’m doing with my friend Kati Gleiser this morning. I love getting to use the excuse that I’m conducting an interview when in reality I’m finding out more about one of my admired celebrities. I love the wealth of talent that thrives in my home area and Kati is a large part of that wealth. I love that I have had the opportunity to hear her play live more than a few times and I have never been disappointed. I love that I know someone who can play whole pieces of classical music without a note in front of her and yet she acts like it ain’t no thing and then she plays something torn from the far reaches of the galaxy that has never been heard before until she played it and again, it ain’t no thing. I love that music is everywhere in my life, either being played or appreciated or talked about and I love how many people admit that it is so important to them. I love that in our home music is part of our elaborate cooking timer system, “… add onions and carrots, stir, cover and let simmer for the duration of Für Elise …” and I love that Für Elise stir fry is one of my favorite dishes.
Today I love that the asparagus is in bloom with the most impossibly tiny flowers. I love that the garden is exploding everywhere. I love that I’ve thinned out the beets and that the carrots are coming along now too. I love that we are waiting in anxious anticipation of the parsnips. I love that the pea plants seem to have doubled in size over the weekend and that the scarlet runner beans have found the ladder and begun climbing it to the sky. I love that the zucchini plants have blossoms, love those ridiculously bold gold blossoms, and that the tomato plants are also beginning to bloom.
Today I love doughnuts from the grocery store in Wiarton. I love that we had a beach fire and toasted marshmallows there last night after barbecuing, and that all in all we had a very nice Canada day celebration. I love that we saw the city fireworks going off as we drove home and that we made it to our driveway before the craziness of the traffic jam of cars going home from the fireworks began. I love that the next door neighbors were in their upstairs window watching the fireworks from the room above their garage as we pulled in, probably the best view in town if you like to watch in comfort.
Today I love sipping coffee on the back deck and contemplating how tiny a flower can be.
