Today I love Chatty McChatterface and all the great things that happen in my life because of her. I love that of all the Chaterface clan she is actually the least chatty despite her newly given name. I love that when we are alone together she chats happily and I hope that never stops. I love that as we drove by Kelso Beach we saw a buzillion people there because it’s Saturday and it’s a beach and there’s a splash pad and that is where those people should be, so says Chatty. I love that we are on the way to the cottage and that there is a really good chance that when we get there we will end up in the water of the bay and we may not get much done once that happens. I love that I am writing in the car while Chatty drives and that way I can publish before we get to the cottage because it is so hot and summery that I may not get anything else done. I love that the weather powers that be tell us that the temperature is 5 Celsius degrees cooler at the cottage than it is at home in town. I love that I love the heat for the most part, but I recognize the relief I feel when there is sudden coolness and I am looking forward to that in the water or at least near it.
Today I love that we went to the market and did our usual breakfast and shopping there and we always have fun doing that. I love that I think of summer when I think of the market but that I also almost always remember as an afterthought that the market in our town is a year round thing, and so is going there for us.
Today I love that there are plans for stuff that needs doing at home and at the cottage but we have decided that they will get as done as they get while we enjoy our somewhat laid back and decidedly warm weekend. I love that this is the weekend of my maternal grandmother’s family reunion and though she and those who came before her and some who came since are gone, we still gather and have done so for over fifty years now, and that is nearly all of my life and I think I may have missed only one of them … so far. I love that, among many other things, I am McKinlay.
Today I love drinking coffee and writing in the car while the dusty summer roadside slips by.
