Today I love those little purple flowers that are blooming in the back yard like a cushion of green with a floral print, whatever they’re called. I love the way the rabbits cross from yard to yard always looking for that one yard that has the best clover. I love that they mostly stay off the sprayed lawns, but I think that’s just because there’s nothing worth eating in the average urban designer lawn. I love that our lawn is full of biodiversity and good revert to a meadow at the first missing lawn mowing. I love the idea that one day people will clue in to the fact that every time they cut their lawns they put carbon monoxide into the air and reduce their lawns ability to clean that back out again, and when that happens everyone will grow meadows instead of lawns and laughing running children will play hide and seek by simple ducking down in the tall waving fronds, like they did when I was a child. Today I love the opportunity to spend some time with my father, even if it is a hospital appointment I’m taking him to. I love that my friend Larry Jenson has survived a serious 8 hour surgery and will hopefully be bringing us more music when he is able.
Today I love that we had another great time on the dragon boat last night. I love that the people who come out regularly are seriously getting their paddling edge and are really making that boat rocket through the water. I love how much fun it is to be onboard that boat and to keep its course so that the paddlers can concentrate on their work without concern for their safety. I love making time for this every week and I love socializing with the crew afterwards.
Today I love raspberry blueberry oatmeal freshly made last night to last us the week. I love lunch meals that are prepacked by us and ready to go. I love that I have no idea what to make for supper tonight … yet, but I will make something great. I love that there is a grocery run in my very near future, I wonder what I’ll find. I love that I have the overwhelming feeling that I’m forgetting something today, and when I remember it I think I’m going to be pleasantly surprised, at least i hope it will be pleasant.
Today I love drinking my coffee in the back yard and admiring those little purple flowers before I head out to spend some time with my father.
