Today I Love This Perfectly Glorious Day

All the things going on under the deck …

Today I love this perfectly glorious day of Summer softness and easy Sunday calm. I love all the motorcycles streaming by on the road that make me want to get my bike out and running so I can wander the countryside just a little when I’m on my way here or there. I love all the things we do in Summer, so many that we hardly find enough time to do them all as much as we would like to. I love the space under the deck at the cottage that is full height, has a roof for protection, has a poured patio floor and has all the yard furniture that we have been working on lately all laid out in a jumble of parts and pieces and finished products and tools and plans for more things and consideration for other things as well. I love that there are at least five different things on the go here and six finished pieces. I love that the only thing that could interrupt us working on this stuff would be putting in the dock, going kayaking, cutting the grass, cooking and eating, or lying in the hammock. I love Cottage Sundays with there happy cheerful sounds and options for activity.

Today I love that those kayaks are in fact out and ready to go and that we made it out onto the bay yesterday in them and plan on going again today. I love how things that we enjoy just seem to slip into our lives and occupy our minds and hearts. I love recreational kayaking, the kind where I don’t need to worry about being dragged off down stream, never to be seen again, so, you know, the kind where I’m in open water, like this handy bay out back of the cottage. I love how easy it is to be lazy here and still get stuff done.

Today I love eating outdoors. I love that we went to a curling event yesterday with people from the club and had a great time. I love talking with people when there are no rocks to be swept, though I truly do love sweeping rocks. I love that I cannot think about curling without looking forward to it with anticipation.I love that I have a whole Summer and part of the Autumn to get through before it starts because I love feeling anticipation.

Today I love drinking my coffee while writing and sitting in the jumble of summer projects.

Kelly Babcock

I was born in the city of Toronto in 1959, but moved when I was in my fourth year of life. I was raised and educated in a rural setting, growing up in a manner I like to refer to as free range. I live in an area where my family history stretches back 6 or more generations. I was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 50 and have been both struggling with the new reality and using my discoveries to make my life better. I write two blogs here at Psych Central, one about having ADHD and one that is a daily positive affirmation that acts as an example of finding the good in as much of my life as I possibly can.
