Today I Love That The Dragon Lives

The Dragon lives!!!

Today I love that the dragon lives and that on this day I will find her winter lair and assist her in making her way to her summer harbor where she will rule the water again. I love that our dragon boating season starts tonight after I haul our boat from winter storage and we launch it and hopefully go for our first paddle of the season. I love that there is a lot of excitement about this activity this year and we may have two nights each week for paddlers to take to the water. I love that I am able to haul things like our huge boat and trailer and I love making sure that everything is safe and secure for the run to the water from winter storage. I love that, because I am careful and yet determined, I get to do some of the most amazing things, that my life is full of adventure, that hauling dragon boats around is just one example of the fun things I get to do.

Today I love that the trees are turning green and closing in my world with the comforting shade that they cast, unlike the shade that people throw around when they don’t like the weather, ha ha. I love the way that trees rustle in the breezes when they are in full leaf, love the sound of them, the susurration that comforts and yet becomes an invisible white noise in my world so quickly unless I think to listen for it. I love the steady climb of the temperature this morning and that by ten o’clock it will be 50° and will continue to warm up through the day until it reaches 16°C or 61°F by late afternoon. I love when it is warm but not hot, good weather for working. I love that a project I started on the weekend became portable and I’ll be working on it here at home, even though it will end up at the cottage when it is done.

Today I love getting back to a routine. I love the rumble of the laundry machines in the next room. I love that I get to hang the laundry out again today. I love that we had a lot of good meals over the weekend and that there is lots of food in the fridge to get us through the week. I love that today is egg day. I love that one of my all time favorite books has been made into a movie and will be released in August, and if you haven’t read The Art Of Racing In The Rain than I love that I get to tell you to read that book, it will warm your heart.

Today I love drinking coffee while I get through my regular duties and get ready for the busiest Tuesday I’ve had in a while.

Kelly Babcock

I was born in the city of Toronto in 1959, but moved when I was in my fourth year of life. I was raised and educated in a rural setting, growing up in a manner I like to refer to as free range. I live in an area where my family history stretches back 6 or more generations. I was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 50 and have been both struggling with the new reality and using my discoveries to make my life better. I write two blogs here at Psych Central, one about having ADHD and one that is a daily positive affirmation that acts as an example of finding the good in as much of my life as I possibly can.
