Today I love new outdoor chairs that are slowly coming together as we stain the parts and then assemble them. I love that this is taking up a good part of our spare time because it’s exactly the kind of thing that spare time was made for. I love that one of them is together and I’m sitting in it right now and it’s shape is perfect and it’s soothing my aching old back . I love that the view from this chair is a crystal clear one of my cottage lawn and the water and the lofting ramparts of Bruce County’s piece of the escarpment bluffs. I love that there is another set of chair parts that have been sanded and stained and when they’re cured I’ll be putting them together. I love that I have sanded another set of parts and they’ll be getting stained soon and so the process continues. I love that each of these chairs came with a footstool and we’re debating on changing them to small tables, though recently the decision to try them as footstools has been made and so one of those has also been started into the production line and has been sanded and is waiting its turn to be stained. I love the color we chose for these pieces of furniture, and I can’t wait to see them all lined up together.
Today I love that the brook beside the cottage babbles contentedly with its spring runoff from the woods and bluffs behind us. I love that there are bluffs to the North and the South of us and that our cottage stands in the valley between those two parts of the escarpment on a shelf of land that shares this valley with the water. I love that I have the option to sit here in complete contentment and write, love that the weather cannot be bad for me because I welcome it all, love that my sky can be blue of grey and I’ll be happy, so long as I have sky.
Today I love the lawn tractor that I got from my father who has decided that yard work is better watched than done and has contracted out all of his. I love that it has been three years since I owned a tractor mower and though this one is a smaller one than the one I owned before, it’s bringing back memories for me. I love that soon we’ll be putting the dock into the water again and in a few weeks or maybe days after that we’ll start lobbing ourselves off the end of that dock and into the water with carefree abandon, and I love that I will start doing that before anyone else does.
Today I love sitting in my new chair and sipping coffee while pondering the beauty of the cottage life that has come to take up my weekends with projects and contentment.
