Today I love reminiscing about all the folks I’ve loved and lost in my life and I love reminiscing about them to someone who cares to hear about them and my past. I love that this rambling reminiscence took place at the breakfast table and that it went on for quite a while and at no time did I feel rushed or like my stories weren’t welcome. I love that this is good practice for old age because sooner or later, whether I grow up or not, I’m going to grow old and it will be good to know how to behave for a change. I love that behaving old seems to be a lot like behaving young. I love that I am skipping middle age and that’s just fine with me. I love that I may yet live to see old age, and that is something I am looking forward to. I love that I have known many children who have had 70 or more years of practice at being children and they have often been my favorite people to know. I love that youth is not the domain of the young, and I love that anyone can experience youth at any age if circumstance allows and they are willing. I love that circumstance allows me to do just that and I love that I am not wasting this circumstance by forcing myself to “act my age” but am instead acting the age I feel.
Today I love that it is Sunday and Sunday is big breakfast at home day and that’s the way we like it. I love that we only miss this when there are pressing matters to attend to and the most pressing of them is adventures and there are adventures coming up. I love that there is a cottage version of big breakfast at home and it is just as good with a water front view.
Today I love mango jam. I love toasted homemade bread. I love the breakfast nook and how it often becomes the lunch table and even the dinner table. I love that dinner is sometimes served in the great room which is the smallest room with a couch on the main floor. I love that there is talk of converting the great room into a kitchen and the kitchen into a great room which will make the already misnamed great room even smaller.
Today I love drinking coffee with my memories and someone who wants to hear them, and mango jam.
