Today I love home fries especially when they are home made. I love that I made home fries this morning and that it was a premeditated thing that required cooking potatoes last night specifically for that purpose. I love that there are times when planning something like that in advance and looking forward to it makes the result even better. I love the smell of the cottage when breakfast is cooking, especially when I am in the middle of the kitchen and the smells are coming from the things I have sizzling and simmering on the stove. I love the way some foods just come together as if they were a puzzle that was meant to be figured out, bread and the toaster, bacon and eggs, potatoes and onions, butter and jam, what more could heaven offer than that? I love that my episode of the radio show is coming up next weekend and since I’ll be doing all the curling this week I need to get some of this thing written and recorded or I’m going to be scrambling in the last minute and I hate doing that to my friend Steve. I love doing the Georgian Bay Roots Radio Show, what a fun way to spend a bit of time.
Today I love that every time I talk to people I find out more about them. I love that I found out a doctor acquaintance of mine that I curl with is also a musician. I love that another friend of mine has gotten himself a new job. I love that there are people interested in the dragon boat season that is coming up in a couple of months. I love that I am looking forward to that more than I realized. I love that dragon boating is what makes up for not being able to curl. I love that I have sort of said that I would try lawn bowling this year. What could go wrong, eh?
Today I love the excitement of pondering buying new jam. I love that we will give that some thought for a few days and then probably make up our mind only when we are standing in front of a selection of jam. I love that the last time that happened we ended up unable to decide and bought two amazing bottles of jam and enjoyed both immensely. I love that one of those was crab apple jelly and it took me right back to my childhood every time I opened that jar.
Today I love drinking coffee at the cottage while the early morning sun peaks under the edge of the overcast sky and lights up the distant shore of Bruce County across the ice.
