Today I love early Saturday mornings with the sun easing over the eastern edge of the world and the sunlight pouring like honey through the trees and all over the day. I love that I am off to the market to have breakfast and buy the things that we use through the week while the other half of my household is off to represent at a bonspiel in a neighboring town. I love that she wears a helmet when she curls and I’m seriously considering that too because thinking about it after I’ve started to fall is too late and this time right now is before I fall. I love that I have a whole bunch of stuff to do today to keep me busy and I won’t likely get it all done. I love that there is always tomorrow and when I get to the point that there is no tomorrow than I’ll be finished what I needed to get finished. I love that last night my team and I had a good time and lost to a great team. I love how everyone keeps learning more about curling in the Friday night mixed league and I that we are having fun.
Today I love that I am planning on reading part of my day away and I might even read most of it away if I feel like it. I love that I skip from genre to genre and from author to author in my reading, love that I’m okay with romantic comedy, Shakespeare, science fiction, space opera, drama, human interest, fantasy, and mystery and I love books that can’t seem to make up their minds about which genre they are. I love that I have been reading since I was four years old and that means fifty-six years of reading. I love that that is all the excuse we need for the size of our library and yes, before you ask, Marie Kondo, it does spark lots of joy no matter how big and out of hand our library might grow.
Today I love the coming warmth of a sunny day. I love that the habit of seeking love and enjoyment is self perpetuating, just like the habit of grumbling and complaining, but much more fun. I love that when I’m feeling unhappy I can smile and soon I’m not feeling unhappy and it usually ends up with me laughing at how easy it is to be cheerful.
Today I love sipping coffee in the early morning and admiring how good it tastes with the honey of sunlight.
