Today I Love Nature’s Art

Today I love nature’s art and that it shows up when and where it pleases. I love the wonder of flowers growing in pavement cracks, frosted windows that look like forest ferns, milkweed pods in winter, tree branches with snow highlights, the beautiful sun when it is magnified through the lens of our own atmosphere. I love suddenly coming on scenes of sublime and striking beauty as if each one were a gift for me because I was in the right place at the right time. I love how that makes me feel like I belong here. I love the beauty of this world and I love that I belong in it and on it. I love that I have begun to view myself as a person of earth, a citizen of my planet. I love that I am Canadian but I also love that we are earthlings, all together, a global community. I love how social media allows us to share our parts of the world with each other. I love how something as simple as raising a window blind can reveal something as complex as the day’s unique presence and attributes. I love how no two days are the same but every day has similarities to others, like dice tossed over and over that land in a different way each time, even if they show the same numbers they did on another occasion.

Today I love that there are so many things that need doing and I’m up for trying to get them all done. I love that I damaged the TV pretty spectacularly last night when a Wii controller was released from my hand while I was bowling and now the TV has a pretty rainbow effect down the middle of it, not bad enough to replace the TV, but annoying enough and embarrassing enough that I may end up watching less TV because of it. I love that today is the day that the laundry room gets a bit of a change over and that we may end up with a more functional space because of that.

Today I love making fresh oatmeal for the rest of the week. I love that what ends up in the oatmeal is always a surprise until it happens. I love that I need to get some groceries and that’s always an adventure. I love that I need to make bread, because the smell of fresh made bread is a wonderful thing. I love being ready to get things done.

Today I love drinking coffee and contemplating the beauty of milkweed.

Kelly Babcock

I was born in the city of Toronto in 1959, but moved when I was in my fourth year of life. I was raised and educated in a rural setting, growing up in a manner I like to refer to as free range. I live in an area where my family history stretches back 6 or more generations. I was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 50 and have been both struggling with the new reality and using my discoveries to make my life better. I write two blogs here at Psych Central, one about having ADHD and one that is a daily positive affirmation that acts as an example of finding the good in as much of my life as I possibly can.
