Today I Love Bonspiels

Curling rocks
Hurry, Harrrrrrddddd!!!

Today I Love bonspiels for charity. I love playing games for a cause whether it’s curling or golf or anything else that can be played for a cause. I love that I’m sad that I’m done curling for the week ’cause that makes me aware how much I love this game. I love that my boss, Anne Finlay-Stewart, sponsored me today in the bonspiel and that the hospital is going to benefit from this game. I love that we didn’t win our first game but we came close. I love that no one cares ’cause we’re all curling. I love that we lost by one point which means we were in the hunt. I love that there is something this fun to do in winter and that we are doing it. I love that this is my fourth day in a row at the club and on the ice and I’m going to feel lost next week but I’ll fill the time … somehow. I love that curling is something I can keep playing and likely never get bored at because there’s so much to learn. I love that I love curling.

Today I Love friends and acquaintances who keep me from becoming a hermit. I love that I live in a household that knows the value of going out and of hiding in. I love that we treat everything like an adventure. I love that staying in bed with a good book can be as much of an adventure as going to the club or a good show or going for a hike. I love a great poem, and I love a great song and I love that I sometimes enjoy my own songs and poems. I love that I write and that writing is good to me.

Today I Love pre-made oatmeal on busy mornings. I love that I’m sad to have missed the farmers’ market today because that reminds me how much I love the many facets of my sparkling community. I love free lunch. I love the sound of bees in the summer and though I’m not anxious for summer, I am looking forward to welcoming it here when it comes. I love that I can write between games and do it on my phone. I love that it’s now lunch time and I’ve finished this post just in time.

Today I Love drinking coffee while I watch people throw rocks at the club.

Today I Love Bonspiels

Kelly Babcock

I was born in the city of Toronto in 1959, but moved when I was in my fourth year of life. I was raised and educated in a rural setting, growing up in a manner I like to refer to as free range. I live in an area where my family history stretches back 6 or more generations. I was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 50 and have been both struggling with the new reality and using my discoveries to make my life better. I write two blogs here at Psych Central, one about having ADHD and one that is a daily positive affirmation that acts as an example of finding the good in as much of my life as I possibly can.
